Yea, I think Zayne should be ready for - at minimum - a sheltered 5v5 role with top PP time.
However I also think his defensive issues are way overblown and his IQ just always has him in the right position without needing to look too frantic/try hard.

Maybe insnt there to be rock solid defensive. He is there to generate offense and help forwards score. As long as he is on the ice for more goals for versus against.

OHL probably.
Realistically, another year in the OHL followed by a season’s apprenticeship with the Wranglers.

If they gave Shane Wright an exemption for the AHL they can certainly give one to Parekh

Not even close to the same scenario.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I think Parekh is going to be much more of a project than we think- he's still got a ways to go before he he can be trusted with NHL duty. Also, he was one prospect at camp this year who looked absolutely overwhelmed with the older players.
That said, I have no idea what to do with him next year.

It is fair to have that opinion based on how he looked at camp. I was expecting more, too. Maybe he'll reverse that and he'll exceed expectations at the next training camp.

If he cant keep up with the pros you send him back. Talk to his junior team and see if they can swing him to a contender. Let him play in the world juniors and just ripen. He is not going to rot on the branch.

I think he’ll follow a path sort of like Brandt Clarke - just getting there now at 21.
I’m not sure there are any 19 yr D in the NHL this year. And I think even the loftiest of comparisons being throw around started at 20.
It’s going to be a couple years. And probably should be.

Yeah I was thinking Luke Hughes might be a good comparison, drafted higher at #4 overall, and even then still only played 2 games and 3 playoff games in his D+2 season, didnt make the team and play a full season until the D+3 season.

It's too bad Parekh can't play in the AHL next season. Hopefully, he pulls a Honzek and makes the team out of camp, quiets all the doubters, and quarterbacks the Flames powerplay for the next decade.

My prediction: Zane will be in the NCAA next season. Playing for a top team for a season and will play on WJC. Depending how season ends, will then play with Flames or Wranglers to finish the season.

He's signed his ELC, so he is ineligible for NCAA

Not bad for a late 2nd rounder that I was a tad iffy about on draft day lol.
Of course, the Flames did end up getting two of the guys I liked better later, anyway.

Battaglia has comparable numbers to Sennecke who was drafted 3rd overall.
Senneke lite in the second round…seems like a great pick

Sudbury loses again, this time 2-1 to Brantford. In the 10 games since Mews has been a part of the Wolves' organization, they are 3-7, and have slipped to 11th-overall. Mews gets a primary assist on the goal tonight, and was +1. He is tied for 15th-overall in scoring, and is 2nd in scoring by D, with 48gp/12g/51a/63pts,-8, 60 PIM.
Parekh is named 2nd star in a 6-3 win over the 'Spits, with 1a, and +1. He is tied with Beckett Sennecke for 11th-overall (with 3 less games), tied for 12th in plus/minus, and is 1st in scoring by D, with 43gp/24g/44a/68pts,+29, 61 PIM. San Jose 2nd-rounder, RW Igor Chernyshov was first star with 2g, and 1a, giving him 5g and 7pts in 3 games. Saginaw is 7-2-0-1 in their last 10, and now sit 9th-overall.
No points for Hurtig, who was +1 in a 3-1 win over the Raiders. He is tied for 11th-overall in plus/minus, with 41gp/3g/8a/11pts,+31, 25 PIM.

Feels like everytime I see Hurtig updates, it's 0 Points, +1. Seems like a valuable asset as a potential bottom pairing shutdown guy.
