It is an interesting contrast between Darryl Sutter's AHL roster and Feaster's AHL roster.
Is it better to have a team full of 20-23 year old draftees and prospects - players with some shot at the NHL (even if it is a slim one),
or have a team with only your very best prospects, surrounded by AHL journeymen who likely never have a shot at the NHL, but will be good pro's for the young guys to emulate, and help the young guys learn to win.
I agree with your comment ( a team filled with 20-23 year olds) but if Negrin or any other prospect is dogging it or not producing), then it's good that the Flames/Heat are sending a message. Maybe with Negrin he just needs to get some confidence back because he's mussed a lot of games the past couple of seasons. I can see Wahl getting sent down to the ECHL too to get some quality minutes. Even Mike Vernon spent time in the IHL.
I just re-read your post, and I probably misinterpreted it, but I do agree with it.
I remember an interview with Gaudreau's coach after he was drafted saying that he hasn't seen anyone so dynamic from behind the net since Gretzky. If you watch the highlights from the game tonight, as well as those from last weekend, its pretty clear that behind the icing line is indeed Gaudreau's office, and he does what he wants to in his own space. Check it out. Too lazy to embed, sorry.

Gaudreau was really really fun to watch at the development camp in July. He's also got a pretty good head on his shoulders, mentioning the importance of [a] going to a good school and getting an education and [b] playing where he can improve. I can't help but think that his interactions with Bill Arnold at development camp made him think that Boston College was a good fit.

The Flames obviously have no good prospects and should just give up.
