It may be a fire safety requirement of the monument site. When we held speakers events at the College we had to manually zip tie all the chairs together so that they would move as a solid row, instead of individual tripping hazards, if people had to move rapidly away from a fire.

I guess all the plane flybys is one way that Trump gets his military parade.
What a complete waste of taxpayer money though. Nice to see Rand Paul there through, the fiscal conservative hypocrite that he is. (ETA: I sure thought I heard the intro speaker saying his name, but can’t find confirmation of it).
Also: Has anyone investigated whether Kristi Noem (governor of S.D.) is related to Sarah Palin? There are a lot of similarities between the two.

I really do love that millions of us are forced back to work while things are increasingly getting worse, because we don't have the money for stimulus payments for Americans, but we've got the available tax dollars for this!
My old home town was on CNN just now. It is the quintessential small town America, court house in the town square, historical monuments everywhere. The Earp brothers rode through in 19ottsomething and it's still the biggest thing that ever happened there. It was always kind of full of loons living just outside the fringes in the desert. Now it's a full on parade of wacko's marching around dressed up like Doc Holliday morphed in to Donald Trump. To paraphrase...if Black lives mattered there wouldn't be thousands of Black babies aborted every year.
Florida reported 11,458 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, shattering its on-day record of 10,109.
The Florida Department of Health confirmed a total of 190,052 cases in the state and said 119 more people had died in one day, for a total of 3,803, since the pandemic began.
With 57% of Canada’s population, they have a total of 181% more cases and climbing quickly. For reference, their 11k+ cases today compare with Canada’s 225 cases so far today, and our absolute peak was just under 2k/day. If they managed to plateau their exponential growth now, it would only take them 9 days to accumulate the total number of cases in Canada.
This is all while trying to reopen their economy and very poor compliance with social distancing and PPE. I mourn the present but also what this could become, in short order.
