Meh. GLOW was one of the few series I actually enjoyed. Looks like it's time to switch to Crave.

Less Alison Brie and Marc Maron is always the wrong way to go.

Damn. Really liked that show.

I would have liked to see one more season, but last season was a step down from the previous two seasons. It seemed like they were more interested in having socially progressive story lines instead of entertaining story lines.

I hope they cancelled Glow to free up money to make season three of Mindhunter.

The entertainment industry certainly is interesting. The movie industry gets lazy and is happy to do sequal after sequal (often getting more and more mediocre as time goes on), but with TV, sometimes even successful shows which are critically acclaimed seemed to get cancelled despite the cult following. I'd hate to be a fringe actor/actress on these shows where you think you've made it, then get dropped unexpectedly.

It sounds like Netflix is increasingly using its algorithm to make programming choices and the algorithm shows that anything beyond a third season for a show doesn't drive new subscriptions and it doesn't do much to keep old subscribers around either. That means, for their business model, renewing a series for a 4th season or longer is a money-loser.

For traditional, ad-driven tv, it still makes sense to continue to renew series because they bring in viewers with predictable numbers that can be sold to advertisers with more certainty (less risk of needing to give away free advertising if a show misses its targets). There's also more money to be made selling more episodes on the secondary market.

Ironically, buying an existing series with more episodes is more valuable to Netflix than producing more episodes of its own series.

Mindbender is in my top 5 or top 3 of all time.

Haha yeah, Twitter was going off about it in the spring when they first aired. All sorts of speculation, everything from jaundice to lesions to smoking too many cigars or too much tequila (which he constantly seems to have a glass of - his own brand - next to him on the series).

That’s really interesting to hear. I guess though after awhile you as a viewer will stop investing in shows for the long haul if you know they won’t invest after a third season. And if this is the case why don’t they just design most series they initially invest in, to wrap up after season three? I’m sure they’re figuring it all out but it’s nonetheless a really interesting take.

I remember this case after seeing the first few minutes, unbelievably sad but no spoilers.

Cant for the life of me comprehend people killing children, now after having a kid and #2 on the way it rattles me pretty bad. Just had a pit in my stomach all night, probably not the best thing to watch before bed.

Sad, just sad.
The way this documentary was made is simply brilliant using all existing footage, body cams, social media etc.

Probably the hardest thing I’ve ever watched because you feel like you are truly witnessing events unfold. It is not a pleasant experience.

Not officially cancelled but the actors were released from their contracts so it’s probably done but there’s still a chance. I think it’s up to David Fincher.

I have a big issue with HBO for #### like this too. I am just not going to bother with anything else from Netflix as far as self-release goes. They finish none of it. They're all cancelled after one or two seasons, usually on cliff hangers. I officially cancelled my sub today and moved it over to Crave.

It makes it tough to invest in a show as a viewer, especially if they leave it on cliff hangers. Disappointing.

Netflix and HBO are basically polar opposites when it comes to committing to a show. Netflix is awful with their content.

American Murder documentary was well done, incredibly sad. I was fascinated by how the interrogation went down after the polygraph.

If it wasn't for the kids programming, our house would have cancelled long ago.
