Yes, three seasons in Tampa on the bottom pairing.

Also a brief stint in Montreal.

There was a report that Kings were after him for a lot more money then withdrew the offer

https://www.rawcharge.com/2020/10/17...source=twitter

Quote:
In March, Igor Eronko reported that the Los Angeles Kings offered Nesterov a two-year deal, worth $6 million. The offer was later lowered to $1.5 million per year and eventually the Kings withdrew their offer last summer. Nesterov also turned down a new contract offer by the CSKA and is currently an unrestricted free agent.

Meanwhile Kylington waits for his offer.

Writing seems to be on the wall, which is too bad.

I assume Nesterov plays in Stockton (or wherever the Heat will be) alongside Yelesin?

Would reeeeally like this as an under-the-radar signing.

Had great results in his first NHL stint

Really liking the emphasis on adding Russian talent over the last 18 months.

That country is too large and produces too many quality hockey players for the Flames to completely ignore them the way they have.

Who was the last Russian to play significant time here? I want to say Andrei Zyuzin.

I don't think the Flames have ignored them, they just haven't had a lot of luck enticing those players to come over. One of the challenges of being in a small western Canadian market.

Another lefty. Does this signal a trade coming up for Hanifin or Kylington?

This guy will be 7th or 8th defenseman. Maybe him and Kylington battle it out for the 3rd pair left shooting defenseman position. Maybe he's competition to push the likes of Kylington. Maybe we don't even sign him and this is just a rumour that doesn't materialize.

Yeah maybe they play him with Yelesin on the farm team so he has a Russian buddy/mentor.

I sure hope he doesn't get the $6 million over two years that the Kings offered him.

I agree. I think Kylington should be given a opportunity to play regularly on the third pairing and get experience to build the defensive side of this game.

From what I've seen of him in NHL action, he's made the occaisional gaffe every so often, but viewed on their own in isolation, each individual incident isn't that bad; they just appear more frequently than the gaffes we see from the top-4.

There is definitely potential for him to learn and grow. I am confident he can make his way up to 2nd pairing.

However, the longer he waits to sign a contract, as the Flames start filling out their roster less cap space/money is available for Kylington. Could be a pressure tactic by BT.
