It's a really unique thing to be that bad. Normally in the NBA if you have a really good player, you should be good to get a few wins here and there or be close to a .500 team. Cunningham looks good, but I start to question how good he is if he can't single-handedly win games, when a lot of star players can, have, and do, win by themselves.

I'd love to do an OG+1st swap for Cade though.

It's a really crazy-bad roster. There was this approach of getting a bunch of former high-pick reclamation projects, in the hopes that you could get one or two of them to turn into decent rotation players, but they haven't found a single hit through that. Mix in some injuries, and a coach who doesn't seem to have much sense of urgency and knows he is basically unfireable with the contract he has. Their only vets are basically the opposite of the sort of influence you want, with Bogdanovic contributing next to nothing on defense and Burks happy to just jack up shots regardless of teammates and game situation.

Even so, for a sport that is so much about percentages, every now and then one of your hot-shooting nights should collide with another team's cool-shooting night and that alone gives you a chance to win.

I think the issue with Cade is that there's just no skillset that is really elite. He's a jack-of-all-trades who doesn't have a go-to skill. That's something that a take-over-the-game guy needs, whether it's shooting passing or P&R or iso or something else. He'd be an ideal glue-guy alongside a couple other stars, but given where he was drafted, that's not what you'd ideally want out of that draft slot. Still, he missed so much time last year this is basically his sophomore season, so there's still time.

I’m prepared for the Pistons to end their losing streak against the Raps

I read an article by Michael Grange where he mentions:
Quote:
In that context, it’s safe to conclude — and the Raptors have indicated as much to league insiders I’ve spoken with — that there is no appetite for a reset, teardown or rebuild.

I used to be a Masai supporter but given the huge missteps this franchise has taken in recent years, and being neither here nor there - what is the path they're taking? It's really annoying to be in the fuzzy middle, especially in the NBA.

The things is, they're not even in the fuzzy middle. The Raps are a bottom feeder now. They should've started a retool last year. Masai and Bobby have been reading their own press clippings the last few years and have sunk the ship.

Hopefully they somehow end up with a top 6 pick, or else the Spurs will be picking top 10 for them.

Damn. I'm skeptical of any Canadian being brought back especially with his dad tied to Basketball Canada, but both their numbers aren't bad, and there will be draft picks attached. Wonder if Siakam is a fast follower? Amazing that the Raps made a deal with the Knicks. Would never have thought in a million years that would be the case.

Quickley is sneaky good and poised for a huge breakout.

It's the Pistons second rounder this year, so basically a low first. On first glance this is an excellent return for OG.

Looks like Flynn is included as well. Honestly can't complain. I did like OG but the hype around him was a little excessive. Gotta give the win overall to Masai on this one.

Now I really want to see what he can do in a Siakam deal if he made that happen.

The Toronto Raptors are finalizing a trade to move forward O.G. Anunoby to the New York Knicks for a package including wing RJ Barrett, guard Immanuel Quickley, and a 2024 second-round draft pick from the Detroit Pistons, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Forward Precious Achiuwa and guard Malachi Flynn will also be traded to the Knicks in the deal, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Quickley will be a fan favourite. He is fun to watch. RJ is an interesting player, he is athletic, still quite young, but just not that great a shooter.

I like this deal for the Raptors. Will miss OG but it was his time to go.

I don't think RJ should be part of the team in the future. Quickley is intriguing but I wonder if you dealt RJ what you could get tomorrow. This team needs shooters and guys who can create their own space. Quickley fits that bill but RJ doesn't quite fit come to think of it.

But hopefully RJ can fit and get closer to his potential.
