Icon55 Jack Eichel to miss remainder of season

@FriedgeHNIC

Expecting an update today on Jack Eichel. Word is BUF captain needs surgery and will get it done soon, so he can begin training in preparation for next season. He’ll miss the remainder of this year.

What a calamity that team is.

It ALL falls onto Pegula too...the fans deserve better, he does not.

Smart enough to hire football people and let them do their jobs.

Not smart enough to hire hockey people and let them do theirs.

No idea how this changes until he steps away from making hockey decisions. That doesn't seem likely any time soon cause he thinks he knows what he is doing even though he has no background in the game.

Meh, not like there is a full arena of paying spectators.

The Flames shut down Monahan a few years ago

Continue the tank. Nothing to see here

Have to think that he has played his final game as a Buffalo Sabre.

There's a YouTube video of Free Agent day for them last year where they're talking about Hall and I'm pretty sure you hear Terry say something along the lines of "Hall? Wow, if we sign Hall it's not just about making the playoffs, it's like we're taking a run at winning the whole thing"

I don't believe that for a second.....unless he decides he wants out, in which case its possible but i think would see the Pegulas doing everything they can to change his mind.

This was his agent in September

“I hear that (trade talk) a lot,” Eichel’s agent Peter Fish said. “Jack wants to win, he’s frustrated (not winning) but, no, he doesn’t want out.
Maybe this season was what pushes him over the edge, but Im guessing any "rebuild" for Buffalo centers building around a world class 24 year old C.

That Skinner contract though.....woof.

Almost makes you wish the NHL had rules allowing loaning players between clubs like they do in Europe with Football.

Let him win elsewhere and return when they rebuild

Although, I must admit my knowledge on that subject is limited to what I learned from Ted Lasso .... so perhaps not an expert.

Herniated disc yikes... one has to wonder if it'll have a long term impact on him even after he's done the surgery and rehab.

Was going to bring Roberts up. Another reason why Eichel won't play out west. Too much travel and time in a plane seat.

That's a good thing! Spinal decompression therapy while you travel!

Oh yeah, give up a ton of value for a guy who doesn’t want to be there.

I'm sure Western Conference teams will be falling all over each other to give up big assets for a player whose spine can't stand prolonged air travel.

He grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts and played 6 years in friken Buffalo, Calgary would grow on him in a hurry.

Anti Panarin grew up in Korkino Russia, yet chose Chicago as his initial destination and NY as his free agent destination.

It’s almost like these players have access to the internet or something.

Eichel has played in every NHL city. He knows the cities. His choice is simply not between Lowell, Buffalo and Calgary.

And to most NHL players, and likely every American player, Calgary likely falls third on that list of places to live, especially with Lowell being very close to Boston.
