An assist is as good as a goal. Especially for a blueliner. It all adds up. Good to hear.

Jimmy Vesey 2.0?
- Harvard? Check.
- Third rounder? Check.
Fortunately, Fox will be ready to leave college after two years and won't be interested in staying for two more

let's worry about Hickey first. There's always time to panic about Fox later

HF is loving him right now. I like them due to the users who come from the areas where prospects play to give the local anecdotal analysis, but that's not here nor there... 11pts in 9 games. I've heard of Brian Leetch suggestions. Brian leetch had 47 in 37 during his freshmen year. His ppg is like 45 in 37, but that name hasn't been said around hockey circles in a while. At the draft considering his value he was getting Ryan Ellis comps that were really piquing interest around these parts considering we got him in the 3rd. He could be much more than ellis. I like that ellis has really made a go of it lately to establish himself, yet this Fox kid could be so much more if all keeps heading at this projection. If he has an ethic to prepare himself for pro hockey rigors, and avoids complications we may have another diminutive dynamo taking the hockey world by surprise.
When I watched Fox at the development camp I saw incredible potential the way he always has his head up, he has feet like gene kelly's and hands like butter. I like the Harvard choice after that program's resurgence. We may have struck gold. I have never heard, in all my years watching the draft and skimming boards, an anecdote like the one regarding the dave reid. You never hear of scouts so adamant about players generally.

His 1.22 P/G, if maintained, would be the 6th best among NCAA defensemen since 2000.
All 5 other d-men were over 20 when their high-scoring seasons started. Get on the hype train while you still can.

I guess it is a good problem to have, but man do the Flames have a bunch of young Dmen on the cusp (Kylington, Andersson, Hickey, Fox just to name a few). Still early, but I wonder if you almost need to offer Fox a contract after his freshman season to make sure he doesn't go back. Could probably push it one more year, but after that I would get worried.

If Fox indeed take the Vesey/Hayes/Shultz option, its due to this reason: the Flames have some good young D in the works. Hopefully when we part with Wideman, Engelland, Grossman, Jokipakka, Smid, etc., guys like Fox and Hickey see they have a legitimate shot at making the team.

One of these players is wrongfully being lumped in with the rest.

Fox has 3 assists so far in Harvards game vs St. Lawrence. Harvard is up 3-1 in the 3rd.
Fox now has 14 points (1+13) in 10 games. Not too shabby.
EDIT: check out that long Fox pass ahead of the second goal. Wow.

How did he even see that forward at the other blueline? If that's intentional, then that's just incredible awareness.

Well he looked up and behind him just before he reached the puck so I think it was intentional. Probably a bit of luck involved though in him not icing the puck and instead successfully making the clean pass.
Extremely hyped for Fox's development, I just love the type of player that he is.
