I have both cards, and I love the insurances come with the card.
I just noticed that Amex only offer 10k sign up bonus on their own website. so if you want to sign up for the SPG card, you'd better to do so use the link above so you can get 21k SPG points.

[QUOTE=caff;4191899]Target stores are coming to Calgary, and RBC is offering a Target card.

The Target card is more like the Bay master card. It is good when you use it at the Bay because you get better rewards there, but you will not use it outside the Bay.

The target card is better than the Bay card. Bay card gets no rewards outside the bay, but with the Target card you still get 0.5% rebate when you use it outside Target.

Just switched from cibc aeroplan whatever to rbc avion infinit. Aeroplan rewards have just been brutal the past couple years. I've been accumulsting about 200k worth of aeroplan pts per year off just purchases so We'll see how I make out with this RBC one. Can't be worse!

I believe it was $120 - same as my cibc one was. I don't believe they waived the fee but I have not seen it yet. Probably something they would do if you pushed for it.

I phoned RBC trying to get the annual fee waived for the first year and they told me they never did and no plan to do so in the near future. I have my SPG card so I am not going to get another card with $120 annual fee.

We pay the fee for the Avion but then they included a safety deposit box and some other 'upgraded' banking features. Obviously none of this helps if you don't do your banking at RBC though.

Yeah...I use TD for most of my banking so I would not be able to take advantage of the upgrades.

I have mortgage at RBC, I will ask them if they can give me some "upgrades or perks".

I called RBC and a lady told me that I need to go to a branch about this. She said I might be able to get a "free savings account" if I sign up a premium credit card in a branch. I will try later.

I've accumulated a crapload of Aeroplan points...but man are they awful. Waiting for a half price gift card sale. There was one last year, but I missed it.

Can I convert my Aeroplan miles into other points? I know I converted Aventura points to Aerpolan points one time.

I've got about 9000 airmiles and 80,000 aeroplan points. When I need a flight to somewhere I can never find one, so useless. I remember googling sites to trade, I found a few that just looked shady and over priced.

Going to be switching to a proper rewards card now.

I was looking at the Scotiabank Amex, the bonus for a gold card ($99annual) is 15,000 rewards point when signing up right now. Found a list of merchants that excepts the card for 4x points on their website.

http://www.scotiabank.com/ca/common/...Categories.pdf

Also found this on Capital Ones site for the Aspire Travel card:

Double miles on all purchases
35,000 bonus reward miles on your first purchase
10,000 anniversary bonus reward miles every year

$120annual

100 points = $1.00

You get 2 rewards points for each dollar spent.

If you're redeeming your points.. 100 points is equal to $1.00
