Default Updated cost for Calgary to host the 2026 Olympic to be $5.23 billion.

Ouch no new saddledome just some renovations done to McMahon and the dome. Pass.

Well, the Nordic Centre design and construction is already going ahead, so I wonder if they rolled the $12M cost into that...

The CSEC thinks this bid roll out has been weak and underwhelming, and obviously they would know. Overall I don't see how anyone can still support this short of simply saying "I just want the party".

No Flames arena? Welp, that's a pretty easy no for me.

Not only that just a reno on McManhon? Do they realize how poor it is and its definitely not designed for capacity crowds? It was brutal during the Heritage Classic, I can only imagine the Grey Cup will be just as bad next year.

No new arena, no new stadium, likely no Airport LRT, and ski events 1000kms away in another province?

What a waste of everyone's time. Garbage bid.

Save the money and build a new stadium for the Flames.

I'm assuming this is just a proposal / guesstimate and that costs could change and venue upgrades etc could also change? Or is this set in stone now if they move ahead? How does this work?

I believe this is the number that will be used for the plebiscite.

Is the NHL going to decide each Olympics if their players participate or is that basically over now? Thats the only event I care about and Id rather just watch on TV and let some other city waste billions.

Lol, so they're planning on having the opening and closing ceremonies at McMahon? Yah, like that's not embarrassing showcasing that to the rest of the world. It's not even passable for CFL games.

Is it just me or have the Olympics jumped the shark?

The cost involved in putting on this event doesn't seem to be worth the effort anymore.

For reference purposes, Vancouver was $6.4 Billion and Pyeongchang was $12.9B.
