Ottawa trade Karlsson for RNH + 2019 2nd + 2020 2nd. Then before the ink is dry offer sheet Nurse 1 year 4 million.
Probably wouldn't work, but I just enjoy the thought of Edmonton getting screwed over.
Getting Erik Karlsson for two 2nds and a 45 point center would really screw over the Oilers
4 mil only requires a 2nd in compensation.
Oilers likely have to match.

Sarcasm detected. Sure, but Karlsson contract is only this season. Rental.
He also has a modified NTC and likely would not agree anyway.
Ottawa could probably get more elsewhere.
I want to give Melnyk credit for trying to communicate and open dialogue with his fans, but this seems a lot more like Eugene taking matters into his own hands rather than an honest evaluation to his fans. There really isn't much positive about this team, and if you're being entirely honest with yourself you know you aren't putting a quality product on the ice. If this was a video talking about discounts on game tickets, fun theme nights, etc then sure - but to talk about how this team could be better than we all think? No, no it won't be.
How I know this idea comes from Melnyk is that he's on camera in the first place. Whoever thought that he was the guy Senators fans wanted to hear from isn't paying attention. The best thing this owner can do for his team is tuck his hated face away. Whether you feel that fans are wrong about you or not, they've made it very clear they don't want to cheer for your team.
Ian Mendez was on TSN 1040 this morning on Halford & Brough (the best morning sports show in the country, by the way), and he said that there are presently only around 4,000 Ottawa Senators season ticket holders.

That is....economically tenuous.

I feel bad for their fanbase. Hopefully things change, it'd be nice to see that franchise succeed with stable ownership and the ability to retain their key players.
I like Meylnk's comment that the season after next will include 15 new players in comparison to last years team. I don't think Borowiecki is in those plans.

So, how is that even possible?
For the 2019–20 season the Senators have only 23 players under contract IN TOTAL. Are they all going to be playing in the NHL? Will there ever be any players in Binghamton next year?

It'll be interesting to tune into Ottawa's first home game, because with $4000 season tickets, they'll be hard pressed to get 7000 paying fans to the game unless they give tickets away.

So they are going to have 15 picks in the next 2 years. That is only 1 extra pick and like others have said they have already lost their 1st pick this year. And 8 of the 15 picks are in rounds 5 of later. That is not a good way to start a rebuild.

That clip was a disaster, but I believe this is a prelude to some changes in Ottawa...finally. Just admitting this is a rebuild for the next 3 or so years is a big step. That to me says that Karlsson is out and Stone is probably also. Those are high draft pick bearing assets. You are correct that Ottawa doesn't have a lot of picks currently, but I have no doubt that they will have lots.
