Key words: Just a hunch. I’m no expert in any of that.

The Johnny interview was great. He seems extremely focused and his desire to win sure shines through. I think he is a better leader than he gets credit for around here. He plays the game extremely bravely for a guy his size, that gets you some serious credit with your teammates.

I don’t think expectations of lazar are high enough for him to be a whipping boy. If he is the biggest problem with this team, we should have one hell of a year.

I was in line behind Rasmus Andersson and Lindholm today in Ikea. Based on what they were buying one can only speculate they are living together this year. Also I guess this means Andersson has made the team for that matter too.

I feel like it will be Derek Ryan. Feel like he’s the next May Ray or someone like that

Andersson is in tough to start the season here, the team has 7 D on one-way contracts and a couple of others who should get a good look as well.

Ryan is a meat & potatoes player, he got to the NHL threw a tireless work ethic, doubtful he would suddenly change the way he goes about his business.
If anything I think he'll become a fan favorite.

Two of those contracts are less than $1.0 m. I suspect that if Andersson has a really good camp the team will have no issue taking the necessary steps to accommodate him on the NHL roster.

The left and right sides are so very different.
If Valimaki is lights out they can move him into Kulak's spot and then you are right, Kulak's salary and risk is hardly worth holding an emerging blueliner back, ... they send Kulak down and he either clears waivers or he doesn't (possible trade for a 5th round pick), or you make him the 7th dman.
If Andersson looks ready it's not the same thing though. They have to make room and with that comes a tough depth decision. Do you move Stone and assume Andersson is ready and that you won't have injuries? Or do you carry Stone as an expensive 7th dman in case Andersson falters or there are injuries?

I would be tempted to let Andersson run with it while keeping Stone in the press box, but of course, it's not my money sitting up there. It would be fantastic to be able to keep Stone as a depth option heading into the late-season drive and the playoffs, but these things tend to seldom work out that way. I think you will find it a VERY common complaint from virtually every fanbase that there are young players blocked by expensive veterans on the roster. It is just the way things play out in the NHL.

Other option is to move Stone to the left side to play with Andersson and keep Kulak as the 7th defenseman.

Yasin Ehliz tweeted this out yesterday. A little tour of his home town in Germany before he comes to Calgary. Great production quality.

I don't know how he is as a hockey player, but this guy does a really good job of connecting with the fans.
