Well, Giordano is better than Hamilton for one(and I think he'll be better next season too).

Ekblad, Carlson, and Hamilton are way too high. Pretty bad list.

The fact that the Oilers aren’t bottom 3 is also a farce.

Not a good list. Bad order and a few of them aren't even the best on their team.

Apparently Nurse is the #1 on the greasers and he's better than Weber?
I know Weber has been hurt but Nurse isn't in the same conversation, at least not at this point.
No way Fowler is the best on Ana, Bufuglien is way too high, Gio is better than Hamilton. Terrible list.

Tanev isn't even the Canucks #1 Dman.
It's Edler.

Giordano and Suter should be occupying the 10/11 positions IMO. Nurse over Weber is also hilarious even with Shea's injury and his "down season" last year.

Hamilton goes from underrated to overrated the second he gets traded somehow

Yup, that's what I would say as well. Gio and Suter at 10 and 11 bumping everyone else down. Fowler should be higher too. Nurse shouldn't even be considered the team's #1. It's Larsson until Nurse starts getting the bulk of the ice time on a regular basis.
Also....shouldn't he be under contract to be considered the team's #1 d-man?

They obviously placed a massive weight on point scoring more so than playing defense. First thing I want out of my blueline is to keep the puck out of my net. Points scored is a bonus. If that was the major component for judging these players, this list would look way different.

This guy: Aaron Ekblad is the tenth best number 1 defenceman in the league.
Also this guy, in the same article: this could be the year ekblad breaks out.
So ekblad, pre 'breakout' is already better than 11 onwards? Shut the front door.

Hamilton is not even the best d-man on his team now, and wasn’t last year either.

Pretty classic valuation of highly skilled Flames players. Hamilton's 50 points and top of the league dman scoring got him no recognition when he was here, steps out the door and suddenly he's a #1 a cut above Gio. The underrating of the captain continues to be nothing short of hilarious.
This unsaid fad amongst "hockey people" that wearing the flaming c gets you taken down a peg has been old for a while.
But I suppose on the other hand if that stifled gaudreau's reputation as an up and coming star which it did (as opposed to if this were Toronto or the US east coast), it probably saved us some cash to lock him up. So I'll take the team of underrated guys flying under the radar sticking it to the league on the next few years, it'll be pretty delicious if/when it happens.

All those players are excellent defencemen but I think the order is highly arbitrary and some of them are being given a lot of credit for potential while others are being discounted based on age and contract regardless of production or ability.
So really, they picked 31 names and outside the top 5 or 10 just threw them into some random order.

Shhhhhh... this is perfect, actually I think Nurse should be #1 on the list, and then hand the list to Chia. The more hype for Nurse the better.

Is there a talent issue in the NHL in regards to defensemen? Most of the defensemen listed 20-31 are mediocre at best. Kevin Shattenkirk is total ####e and Nurse isn't even a top pairing defenseman.

Anyone notice that Calgary players are so underrated until they switch teams?
The NHL is going to find out how terrible this list is going to be when they see Dougie without Gio.

The guy was listing the #1 defenseman off of each team. So, every team had a player by default.
If there was a ranking of defenseman, multiple teams would have more than one.
