I think he acquitted himself well enough last season that he would likely make the trip for the first few pre-season games.

Do people normally fly in via Tokyo from Calgary or straight to China from YVR?

- likely a more veteran squad heading over
- Peters already preparing
- spoke with Benning & Blake about the Canucks/Kings experience last year
- will have a plan for recovering from the travel
- back prior to end of camp so plenty of time to get over hurdles
Unrelated:
- spoke with Peters today about assistant coaches (Treliving has no timeline for hires)
- speaking with other GMs that have finished playing, get a sense of what they are looking for
- Treliving heading to the WHC next week, looking at some free agents they are scouting/evaluating and can speak to at the WHC
- May/June will be busy leading to the draft
Injury Updates:
- all players cleared with the exception of Monahan (who is making great progress, should be cleared in a week)

Throug yvr. Im in to going as well. I like the idea of a cpl weeks in china and a few flames games could easily make the trip memorable.

I work in and out of China (I'm there 3-4 times a year) so I will be there for sure.
Hainan air has direct flights to YYC-PEK every Tues/Thurs/Saturday. Business class is $2500-$3500, which is SUPER reasonable (around $1100 for economy). From Beijing there are bullet trains all over the place, so you can either connect by air or hop a bullet train from Beijing.
This will be super cool, I was looking at booking out my itinerary for September anyway so I'm absolutely going to include this.

Part of me thinks it would be cool if the Flames were sold to a Chinese group (who also wants to spend crazy dough on a new arena). Then we could not only be Calgary's team, but China's team. We're already red. Play a couple games there every few years.
