Yesterday there was some exciting-sounding chatter about who they will invite for a PTO. Is this it? It's positive but not really what I was expecting from it all

I sort of liked Shaw in his bottom 6 role with Anaheim. Him and Wagner together were a pretty menacing forechecking duo. Should be he vs. Hathaway in camp for the 13th forward slot.

Say no to Peluso

Considering our track record of developing players flat out sucks, and has sucked every year before and since we have had this conversation, it's a pretty valid thing to question if you ask me.

Last year was the first year Shaw had a big contract (above the normal $70,000) He made $650,000 this past season.

Can't hurt to have him on a PTO. I'll echo what others have said that our young guys should not be gifted spots. If they can't beat out a tweener like Shaw then they potentially are maybe overrated by some. On a side note I watched his father play in Glace Bay when I was growing up. It was always just Rec league hockey or Tournaments but that dude could shoot the puck as hard as anyone I've watched play.

He also was a straight up and down player but obviously scored a lot more in Rec with over the hill, half snapped goalies haha.

Nothing wrong with bringing some guys in on PTO's. Where fans get concerned is when these guys beat out the organization's prospects for jobs and end up being unable to perform at an NHL level. Nik Grossman and Tanner Glass come to mind.

No one should be gifted spots but for me it's kind of an uh-oh monent when PTO players start making the team out of camp. You kind of wish you had better options.
