Austin Czarnik wasn't signed at the time of much of the polling, Haynes has him at #8. After that, It's a flip one spot up or down between the two lists. No real deviation between the two lists. Even Rychel swaps in roughly the same spot as Shinkaruk.

Good list in my opinion. After Gawdin, it seems like a bit of a crap shoot. I do think Phillips could be a real dark horse though.

Flamesnation has almost finished releasing their list. The top 3 are yet to be released but are easily deduced. Sidenote: They don't consider Czarnik a prospect.

They seem to have a bit more deviation as they value players like Phillips quite highly and Parsons lower:

IIRC, he was signed but the CP collective decided that he should no longer be considered a prospect due to his age and NHL games played. Bingo didn't include him in the list for those reasons.

pretty obvious Mr. Haynes had seen the CP list and decided to include Czarnik purely so it didn't look too obvious that he copied the homework

kidding of course. Haynes is awesome and there isn't a lot to argue about the list.

Not much to argue about except the two new additions.

1. If you're going to include Czarnik, he should be higher IMO. I think he is a similar level to Andersson (same level of likelihood of NHL, but maybe a little less upside). I think he slots in after Dube.

2. Rychel. Having him 17th behind Joly suggests that he will almost certainly never see the NHL. Which is bizarre considering that, not only has he already played 41 games, but in all likelihood, he is still in Calgary on the 14 man roster when the music stops. I think he should probably slot in at #10, behind Gillies.

Czarnik was signed in time but omitted like many others for age and having played 50+ games.

Is interesting to see Haynes bring Czarnik in after Mangiapane, Dube and Foo though given a certain poster on here's insistence that his signing was a sign he was better than all of Calgary's forward prospects.

Valid points, but it depends on his methodology. Perhaps he sees Czarnik as a more likely NHL player than Mangiapane, Foo, but sees them as having more upside?

Phillips is also ranked a lot lower here, which to me seems like a bet against him making the NHL. Phillips to me is a guy who could be a high skill player who produces, or struggle in the AHL, such as huge boom/bust potential, but the kind of pick you make where he was selected.

Until proven otherwise I see Czarnik in the Foo category, but with more experience. He's older, came from College and has less upside than the younger prospects that can still develop further up the roster.

He just left so much to be desired during his callup to the big team. Hate being pessimistic, but I'm afraid he'll be another Kris Kolanos type that just can't figure out the NHL game.



On the other hand, I think Foo will be able to figure it out and stick as a middle 6 forward.



I'm pretty excited to see how the future unfolds with the top three defensive prospects.

Dube is the biggest given to me.

Mangiapane and Foo have different issues. Mangipane has size to battle, but I wouldn't right him off for his stint on a fourth line with no opportunity. Foo looked good in the four games but those late season games are always tough metrics. His issue is age, and getting it done soon or not at all.
