I absolutely agree with Woolley, but this is one of those situations where if you find yourself picking a fight with a moron... now there's two morons.

Well, a "politician shouldn't threaten private donors of rival politicians" has to win my personal most-unexpected-hot-take award. I have no doubt if this was Chu or Farkas explicitly saying they will target donors of Nenshi, there would not be the same support.

Oh man so that really was him making those comments. Not good at all. I've always felt that elected officials need to carry themselves in a professional manner which is the one thing that always bothered me about Nenshi and his pettiness and public belittling of others. This however is next level unprofessional. Chu has a legitimate beef here.

When you look up "looks that are not good looks, not at all good looks as far as looks are concerned" this is now the first thing that comes up.
Tragic.

You know what else isn't a good look? How purple some people's hands get when they're clutching pearls.

what does it really matter anymore?
Magliocca can expense whatever he wants, pays back some but not all of it, and doesn't apologize for the behavior.
Farkas can spew false statements, doesn't have to withdraw or apologize.
Chu applies math improperly and spews out rhetoric.
And now Woolley says something that he probably shouldn't have, and Chu wants an apology to close the matter?
what does it really matter? negativity begets negativity, and the biggest sources of negativity on the council right now are Chu / Farkas / Magliocca. If they want to be treated better, then change the attitude.

I’d add Wooley to that, I am just not impressed by this crew entirely. Just make the cuts across the board and hold the line on taxes. They are too damn high.
I like what Ford did with Toronto council.

Chu really ought to apologize for being such an awful councillor and his continued lack of understanding anything that goes on. He has only been doing the job for 7 years now.

I appreciate where Woolley is coming from and am glad to see someone (finally) calling out Chu. So I support him calling Chu out on his prejudice — from climate change to LGBTQ issues to addiction to cycle tracks, he's not listening to the experts and he's clearly ineffective as a representative of his constituents.
But he should probably apologize for his choice of words.

I'm no fan of Chu, but I think that Woolley makes a couple mistakes here. First, it's great to point to these things Chu has said in the past and say that you should've fought harder. I agree. But that doesn't give you carte blanche to say whatever you want now. Just because you didn't fight hard enough when he was saying dumb things about climate change doesn't mean that you can call him names today.
And second, why is he targeting his donors? Like the fact that a developer gives money to Chu and his campaign is completely legal and legitimate. They haven't done anything wrong? I guess they don't agree with the positions that Woolley takes, but that's hardly a reason to throw out a warning.

By giving Chu money, they are supporting an ignorant moron on council. Wooley feels we should strive for better people on council, so it makes sense to go after his enablers. He's doing us all a favour. I'm OK with it.
