Well that's the problem with Binge watching, you tear through it and then have to wait a long time for resolution.
Spoiler!
Having Ally come back though, it was nice and cute and gave Johnny that last little bit of closure on his life and his path going forward was kind of nice.
Hawk totally doing a heel turn so that we can see that Robbie and Torrie (who's not a bad person, she's just in a shytty hopeless situation and Kreese seems to be the only one that cares about her was really kind of sad to me.
The flashbacks on Kreese's life and his time as a POW is meant to show that there are no bad students but there are certainly bad teachers showed that he was created and not born the way he was and he has some tremendous ghosts too was well done.
I've talked about my issues with shows that make villains 2 dimensional mustache twirlers with stupid goals, this isn't the case here.
Terry Silver will likely return in season 4 and can Mike Barnes be far behind.
A pretty good season, had a cameo by Dee Synder as well. I think the only weak spot in the show is the actor who plays Sam, she's just not strong enough in the role.

Decided to binge the rest of the season tonight. That was loads of fun! I'd say this was their best season yet, and the acting and writing continue to be top notch. As I mentioned earlier, this show does a wonderful job of being both laugh-out-loud funny and also dramatic and quite touching.
The actors are all great, but William Zabka still owns the show as Johnny.
Demitri is my favorite of the younger characters. The kid is hilarious.
Spoiler!
Daniel's Okinawa trip was my favorite part. Some really nice moments during that episode with Kumiko, Chozen, and even the bell tower girl that he saved in KK2. So great that they managed to get all the original actors back for these roles.
Seeing Kreese's back story was interesting, and almost made him more sympathetic...almost. Dude is still a total psychopath, but at least we now know what made him that way. Anthony Michael Hall was terrific as Kreese's Vietnam army commander.
The scenes between Ali, Johnny, and Daniel were well done, and my 80s crush on Elisabeth Shue has now been rekindled. She's still a stunner.
Loved watching Johnny open up a can o' whupass on Kreese.
Dee Snider!
After three seasons, I love that they still haven't run out of fun easter eggs and references to the original movies. Just a few that I noticed on first viewing:
"I thought karate died out in the 80s."
The soccer game fight was right out of the original film when Daniel got into it with the Cobra Kais at school in '84.
The slabs of ice at the bar when Daniel is having a drink with Kumiko.
All the "Golf N' Stuff" scenes.
The hand drum from KK2 in the Larusso's dojo.
"Daniel with an L."
During the city council meeting when Daniel says "I was bullied in high school" and the dude yells out "bull####, I heard you were the bully!"
Also, I'm pretty sure that Ali's mother's house was the exact same one from '84. Either that or they re-used the original exterior shot.
And was that the same country club from the original film as well?
I had a huge grin on my face at the end when Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do joined together, and Johnny and Daniel came walking out to the soundtrack of "In the Air Tonight". I guess they couldn't get clearance for the original Phil Collins version, but that's a minor complaint. It's a cool cover nonetheless, and it worked beautifully in that scene.
I have to admit, I got pretty misty-eyed when Kumiko read Miyagi's final letter to Daniel.
Watched the rest of the season, while season 2 dragged a bit IMO at points this season did not one bit.
This formula is quite outstanding, the show by itself is good enough I'd probably watch it but when you throw in the layer of.. not even just nostalgia, Karate Kid was such a generational movie it's like there's receptors in my brain and emotions all ready for the show to just socket into. And I'm already a sucker for coming of age stories.
I wonder if there'll be more like this. What other movies could be turned into a series like this? Back to the Future? Stand By Me? ET? Breakfast Club?

I’m game - watching Biff Tannen struggle after getting punched out by George McFly - drinking too much, dealing with the lawsuit from the manure hauler - having to fight the system to start his detailing business.
Heck no, i want a series that follows the exploits of Mad Dog Bufford Tannen after his run in with Clint Eastwood. His escape from the Hangman's noose, his trek across the West on a mission of vengeance as he hunts down and shoots people in the streets like a duck. As he chases down the coward Emmit Brown who shoed his favorite horse wrong.

Can someone fill me in on the Karate Kid 3 references in this season? Like Terry Silver? I must have missed them - or are people just speculating?
Season 4 seems like the perfect story arch to bring them back and throw another kink in the drama - just didn't catch the references.
Spoiler!
Kreese calls Terry Silver at the end of the last episode. He is the Vietnam friend who will do anything to help, for the rest of their lives.
They've essentially recreated the circumstances of Karate Kid 3, where Kreese is leading Cobra Kai, but defeated. He calls Silver for help, and Silver, who is very wealthy, throws a bunch of money behind Kreese.
My guess is that they'll also bring back Mike Barnes, but Barnes will help Daniel, as Barnes will feel used by Kreese/Silver in a similar fashion to how Johnny feels.

I don't know
Spoiler!
They could surprise me, but Mike Barnes was absolutely vicious and perfect at that. I would expect that he would have unfinished business with Daniel. They all can't have redemptive stories.
