WestJet's 100th 737NG is on its way to YYC. It'll be here just after 5pm today. Not the special livery I was hoping for, but it has a twitter hashtag to set it apart.

Why did they even bother. WS and AC both need to learn what a real special livery is. C-FFWN was great, then AC re-painted it. Fail.

Westjet needs an update.

Their whole livery scheme just screams 1996 to me.

Such a huge missed opportunity with WestJet's 100th 737. I gave them crap for it on twitter a few weeks back.

I thought they were trying to emulate Southwest's successful business plan, at least initially? They sure know how to do up a special livery.

I do like their tail, though. Just need to do something with the rest of it.

Was that the Canadian Flag livery that was actually made up of the signatures of AC employees?

I loved that livery.

I'm glad we don't waste money on a bunch of paint jobs.

Well you wasted some on that awful Care-antee livery. I don't think we are crying out for special liveries all over the place, but this was your 100th 737. Something more than a freaking decal should have been done.

I loved that livery.
It was actually printed names, not signatures. Very cool.

Canadian did a DC-10 with employee signatures all over it.

I don't see WestJet doing anything more than kicking tires right now. I wouldn't think they'd be in a position to get widebodies and expand all while purchasing Q400's and expanding their regional network.

That said I'd think they'd take a solid look at the 787s and A350s. New planes, composite materials, fuel efficient and by the time they're ready to purchase they'd be ready with the kinks ironed out.

Couldn't agree more, but it is definitely in their best interest to start looking around now. Personally I think when the time comes they will go 787, it will have been in service for a few years and there will be a lot of airframes out there flying, so true performance numbers will be known.

Hey, can we talk about airplane livelies for a bit? Two minutes ago, I didn't even know what that was, but now I know it's elitist airline talk for a paint job.......and I'm interested.

Personally, I actually liked those canadian airlines ones with the goose coming off the tail. I think it was close to when they went belly up.

They also had a livery that had employee signatures all over it.

I think the real beauty of it was that is scaled up or down depending on aircraft size perfectly. Looks just as good on a 737 as it did on a 747.

I know, it's my stupid sense of humour.

I used live as in a live performance, and live as in I live in a house. Then typed them both out with no explanation. I'll be here all week folks.
