Someone please tell Murray Edwards that when you trade your 3/4 defence that doesn't help you in making the playoffs...

There is also a difference between "Making" and "Competing"... this ownership group needs to stop seeing $$$ in the short term and realize that rebuilding will help them in the long run.

I would suspect it's for retention? If 22 games of 1.5m or so is a 4th, 2 years of 2 to 3m has to be worth something.

This is either brilliant negotiating tactics by the Flames or very worrying that Edwards thinks the team can still make the playoffs. I really hope they just make the trade.

It isn’t about the playoff revenue from everything I’ve ever heard

It’s that EM does not like to lose . He always wants to win . And people around him (afraid??) constantly reinforce his idea that they can win . Hopefully Conroy can change that

Edwards wants a cup , not playoff revenue . The issue is he can’t see clearly the proper path to get there
