The end really has to be near. She's asking for Wildcards and organizers of these lower level events are handing them to her to raise the profile a bit of the tourney.
Seems like she's been content now for a few years with catching up on living the non tennis life she didn't have becuae of tennis, 10+ years ago; these tourneys give her reason to travel, but actual playing tennis seems a lot lower than even secondary on her list and crashing out (injury or not) in early rounds isn't going to give her many future invitations.

I'm not sure I agree, yes she's been granted some wildcards, but she played a whale of a match against Bencic recently and we have to remember she is coming back from some pretty serious shoulder surgery that had her on the shelf for almost 18 months. She certainly doesn't need to put in the hard training required to get back to top flight tennis, but at least for now that seems to be the goal. How long that commitment will last is anyone's guess and I can't blame anybody for being dubious about this most recent comeback attempt.

Felix was certainly pushed by German Oscar Otte, but he ends up prevailing 6-4 6-7 6-2 in just under 2 hours and 40 minutes. Felix gets Brandon Nakashima on Friday in Florence.

Iga just defeated Qinwen Zheng at the tourney in San Diego in three sets 6-4 4-6 6-1. Next up is the first and likely not the last clash between Coco Gauff and Bianca.

Bianca takes set 2 6-4 and we need a 3rd set to decide this tussle.
Edit: Bianca was up a break at 3-1 in set 3 and lost five straight games

Felix is into the semi-finals in Florence after a straight sets win over Brandon Nakashima. He faces Italian Lorenzo Musetti on Saturday.

Vasek has also advanced into the semi-finals of a challenger event in Germany in the hopes of getting his ranking high enough for direct entry into the Aussie Open. A win on Saturday will rise him up to around #110

At the very least she could have success in doubles.

Looks like Genie was awarded a wild card into the main draw at the WTA 1000 event in Guadalajara. She picked up a bit of a hip flexor in her last tourney.

Tough loss for Vasek just now in the semi-finals of a Challenger event in Germany despite hitting a boatload of aces in the match.

JJ Wolf is one of your finalists in Florence as he defeated Mikael Ymer in straight sets earlier today. He awaits the winner of Felix vs. Lorenzo Musetti.

It will be Felix vs. JJ Wolf in the Florence final as FAA just sent Lorenzo Musetti packing 6-2 6-3. High calibre of tennis from Felix on display today, time to go get that second ATP title on Sunday.
