I'm a light stamps fan but mostly a sports fan when it comes to the CFL. So I might choose to sit in a rowdy spot and get loaded. Will have to check out tickets.

Pil Country in the south endzone would be the rowdiest.

They got 18k with Manziel in. I'm pretty sure they weren't attracting 9k before that. Did you make that up or see it somewhere?

Their previous two home games were over 16,500 (their home opener was almost 19,500), so there was a bump of a little under 2,000 for Manziel's first game.

There is a difference between tickets sold and people in seats. I suspect the latter increased greatly.

Calgary's hopes, dreams, and civic self esteem isn't exclusively tied to a CFL team.

Games would be way more fun here if it were!
I’d rather have a new stadium than the city digging up the sidewalks in my community for the third time this year.

As a Stamps STH I hope we get both!

Can we quit with the cokehead stuff? He did coke big deal. So has most of the professional athletes many of us adore. I can understand not liking Manziel because of the hype, arrogance, etc but it's pretty lame to call him cokehead. The CFL is littered with US college misfits (DaVaris Daniels for example was kicked out of Notre Dame) that have matured so lets discuss the league here like adults.

The guy's a diagnosed bi-polar, he self medicated with liquor and drugs, that's a tragedy, he's clearly come up here and done what he was asked to do, so stow the coke head stuff.

Manziel is also a charged domestic abuser. That's the real tragedy. I do hope he gets the help he needs for his mental health, but IMO he's still an abusive POS.

What do you think of Joffrey Reynolds? or Ray Lewis?
The last Als game also drew 200k more than the Grey Cup last year for ESPN.

Charged, or convicted? Those are two very different outcomes and you seemed to have given him the guilty verdict without trial

He plead to it and had to undergo counseling and was monitored by the prosecution with the threat that if he didn't live up to the agreement that he would go to trial. I believe that's where they found out that he was bipolar.
The conditions of his CFL contract are supposedly pretty unforgiving and he has a laundry list of things that he has to do.
Basically, he's been a good citizen since then.

Nice to see the Esks choke one away vs the Lions last night. If you can take the big play away from Edmonton, their offense becomes very average.

Jeez after 7 games the Stamps are up 4 points on the Eskimos with a game in hand and 6 points up on the Bombers.
My worry is that the Stamps who haven't even found the top of their game offensively get a big enough lead that they start coasting a bit.
Come on CFL give us some competitive ball this year. And not bad against bad competition.

I think that was a big factor in the last couple grey cup losses. Last year I was really into the CFL for most of the year, but for the last month of the regular season I kind of stopped caring because the stamps were miles ahead of everyone and it was clear they were coasting. By the time the GC loss came around it didn't have much sting to it because I'd barely watched them for the last few games.
It's probably similar for the players, it must be hard to fire it up again after you've already shut it down for the year.

It's probably best for the Stamps to have at least one team pushing them. That said DD and his staff seem to do a good job preparing them every week regardless of the opponent or importance of the game. They also haven't faced the Bombers or Eskimos yet and losing a few 4 point games could close the gap fast.
Maybe the Riders have unearthed a blueprint on how to stop the Eskimos offense. Lions sent a lot of pressure and had help on the back end for Reilly's jump balls. I think they only completed the one deep ball to Walker in the 4th quarter and several others were knocked down by Lions defenders. Riders played a pretty good game last week but they were unable to defend a couple of key deep balls and that was the difference in that game. The Lions didn't give up the long ball TD.
