Looks like Staal was blindsided by trade

Michael Russo @RussoHockey
Staal found out about the trade 10 minutes ago. Said to be stunned.

What's the point of having a NTC if you're not putting Buffalo on it?

I think this is really a good hockey trade...Staal can show Eichel and the other young guys what it takes to win and save some cap room I believe...Minny get a decent and younger guy as Guerin continues to put his stamp on that roster.

So what does Buffalo's top-six look like now?

Olofsson - Eichel - Reinhart
Skinner - Staal - Mittelstadt?

It definitely looks better now than it did this morning, and Staal should help Skinner produce again. But is it good enough?

I will say, Staal will look great in those beautiful new Sabres jerseys.

Although, this could open up a LW spot for a certain #13 in Buffalo

I don't get it either. Did he only write the standard Edmonton/Calgary/Winnipeg and leave the rest blank?

There is the Sabre's stop-gag center until they can see if Cozens is ready.

interesting... this does seem like a move that should be a precursor to something bigger

will wait with baited breath.

Nice deal for Buffalo. Staal will help, even though he is getting older. Why did the Wild do this?

I don't really understand this for Minnesota. Seems like a clear win for Buffalo. Neither player is young and Staal is just straight up better.

Monahan for Dumba would be mind-numbingly stupid. It would set the franchise back years.

I cannot believe that some of you are discussing and contemplating it. Even adding the pick swap, it's a terrible idea.

Edit: wrong thread (sort of)
