Wormius, you won't be able to do that, unless you can convince the power company to run 480V 3 phase grid connection at your home. I suspect they will not. It would also be incredibly expensive to buy, wire and install.

Level 3 charging (Even at 50 kW) is far beyond what your residential electrical service is capable of providing. But there are people that have level 2 chargers for other people to use.

Seems to me that should be made standard in all housing construction. It isn't that hard to do.

As cars include capabilities for charging at faster rates, 15 min or less is very possible.

If that charger can actually do 350 kW, that’s under 10 minutes.

I would say if you charge at home you don't really need level 3. Level 2 should be able to charge your vehicle quick enough.

Yeah, level 3 is not necessary if you can charge at home (overnight).

Its really only needed when you are in the middle of a trip.

Like I said earlier in the thread, every single 'issue' that exists with electric vehicles can be solved. The same cannot be said for ICE vehicles.

To me the battle is over, and manufacturers that don't switch are going to die a painful death.

I think “level 3” includes standards for more and more power. But I’m not sure it’s required for personal vehicles. For commercial trucks, there will be chargers available to charge at a megawatt or more.

Technology research and design us going into making batteries that last longer, for more cycles.

Jack Carter Chev had these 6 month lease deals back then to move some cars off the lot, and they would at least recover the interest they had on the vehicles.

So, I’m paying $199 a month including GST.

Definitely a good, cheap and low risk way to give it a try. I don’t know if they still have any similar deals.

For people with electric vehicle's, how much does your electricity bill go up by charging your vehicle at home?

Tesla's get about 20kWh/100km, less 20% efficiency loss on charging, so you need ~25kWh. With electricity at 6c/kWh that's $1.50 per 100km, or 1.5 cents/km. You can do your own math from there to figure out your costs. In the winter you can probably add 1/3 to the costs.
