With this news, Amazon is definitely going to get in on the upcoming CDN rights. This is interesting, because you know Bell will want to get national games back too. So there will probably be a Bell/Rogers/Amazon split. But when it comes to streaming out of market games, who's going to get those?

Bell seems to be bulking up their TSN+ package, and I figure they would want to grab NHL Live from Rogers. But Amazon is prime for streaming. So they got a strong contender for that now. Or maybe someone like Google will come in to take that since they're also in the game too.

Streaming is the main grab these days, so I'm intrigued to see how that plays out.

From a cost and tech point of view, if Amazon got the out-of-market games that would be the big win for us consumers. Much like ESPN Plus in the U.S. where they can get out-of-market games plus everything else ESPN+ offers for like $5.99 a month, to get NHL games as part of Amazon Prime and everything else that comes with it would be a pretty massive win.

for me, I just want the option to pay a fair price for Jets games. Robbers, sorry, Rogers, wants me to bundle in every single team in the league that I don't want, WWE, and a bunch of other #### I have zero interest in. I don't think it's unreasonable to pay 5 dollars a month for only Jets games as a top up to say, TSN/Sportsnet.

As a fan of an out-of-market team, you must totally see how because the Jets regional provider is TSN and not Sportsnet they get way less national exposure. Only 22 national games compared to 53 for Calgary and 58 for Edmonton this current season.

I'm just trying to convey that I want to pay for a Jets package only, and I'm sure Flames fans like MQS want to pay a reasonable price in Cape Breton to watch the Flames

For sure, though he's at an advantage only missing 19 games if he decides to not pay a penny for out-of-market while you miss out on 60. Just saying Flames fans might not get that advantage anymore on the next national deal.

The Amazon app is really smooth as well. User interface and how it works is such a huge thing for me on this platforms. Sportsnet+ is slow and clunky. Prime can be a little confusing with what's exactly available (and what isn't) but it's quick and responsive

I wonder if the rights do get broken up, we see something like CentreIce come back. I also like having one app (albeit buggy as hell) as my one stop shop for Flames games.

I feel like one of the bidders that pays a little bit more will get it. Too much money involved now for it not to end up that way. Kind of like in the U.S. where it's split between ESPN and TNT but ESPN's deal is worth more so they get the out-of-market games which they put in ESPN+.

Probably using the soccer premier league model, break the season down into packages of games with each provider bidding on each package. Makes the NHL more dollars if they think they aren't going to get one high paying provider, like Rogers last time.

Like I said you end up needing to subscribe to three services.

Regarding team only games, cant happen under this model because the highest bidder is buying exclusive rights to those games and they will be spread across all 32 team I would imagine.

But then how would they sell WWE and the other #### that people have zero interest in?

If you're paying 5 dollars a month to watch every Jets game, are you also time traveling back to the 1970s to watch WHA telecasts? I can appreciate wanting an a la carte option to only pay for the team you want to watch, but $5 per game wouldn't come close to getting it done, let alone $5 a month. Might as well aim high and see if you can buy the franchise for about tree fiddy.

The problem with streaming these days is there are so many platforms. So while competition may be good, paying $20 or whatever it is for every service these days, adds up. Netflix, Apple, Amazon, Disney, Crave, etc...never seems to be ending. And most are kinda diluted.

Not kind of. Almost everything on television is garbage.

To further PepsiFree's point, Apple's MLB broadcasts are truly outstanding. Have loved all of the ones I've seen.

Curious how actively involved Amazon will be with production.

MLB on Apple TV is fantastic for sure. I especially love staying on the field during commercial breaks and just taking in the ambience of the ballpark.

So, its official now. Just Mondays.

Amazon is aware that MNF is on at that same time, right?

You don't have to subscribe to every service.
