I'd rather the Flames not draft him actually. Yes he does have a great deal of size but here's the thing... look at the stats on Rimouski and you'll see that Gauthier was 6th in scoring. He's 6'5 210 playing in a league that has physically undeveloped 16 year olds playing in it and he wasn't even top 5 in scoring on his own team? That's something of a red flag for me. I just have a feeling that he might be another Nemisz (Big guy on a strong team who had superficially good numbers that couldn't translate once out of youth league). Size is nice, but then Hugh Jessiman had size too...

He sounds like Brian Boyle of the rangers, you can get that crap in the 3rd/4th rounds. Waste to take him in the 1st.

they still have the STL pick belonging to St Louis because there was a condition on the pick. The Eastern has us pick Kerby Rychel at 19, the Western says we take Adam Erne with that pick.

My expectation is that we take a center with our pick, another forward with the Blues pick and a defenseman with the Penguins pick.

CGY pick: Lindholm/Monahan (or Barkov, if he falls *knock on wood*)
STL pick: Gauthier/Wennberg/Compher/Hartman/Rychel/Klimchuk
PIT pick: Theodore/Morin/Mueller/Santini

Where are you seeing that Hockey Writers one? I get the April 13 mock when I follow the link and don't see anything else on the site. Maybe, somebody was drunk when they did it and they already took it down...

I think PMM got the links mixed up, it's actually from DraftSite. Here's the link: http://www.draftsite.com/nhl/mock-draft/2013/

I dunno. I think it's safe to favor north americans over euro players. I'm hoping we draft a NA player with our top pick. If it ends up being Nurse, so be it, he's the 2nd best D in the draft. If it ends up being Monahan over Lindholm, I dunno, I still feel like I'd rather the safety of a North American player.

Thanks for spotting devo22 & PMM for rectifying.

I thought I was totally losing it when I saw that a THW mock...lol...

While I like Vanelli and Poirier, definitely not as 1st rnders.

I have to agree, I can't see Vanelli and Poirer in the first round at all.

My draft site makes averages out of user mock drafts, so their mock draft they display is just that, an average of regular people's drafts.

And they just changed their draft order so I think the averages are just starting out again, so a bad one or 2 will seriously send it askew for a while.

Their latest has the Flames taking Lindholm, Fucale, & Mueller. Rather not have them burn a 1st round pick on a goalie TBQH but I could live with those three.

Yeah not sold on taking Fucale with the St.Louis pick. Especially is a guy like Hartman is still on the board. RW is weak depth wise as well.

I think that if the Flames were to take Fucale anywhere it'll be with the Pens pick... but that's just because it's the Jarome Iginla pick and they can sell the fans on getting "Future #1 Goalie" for the face of the franchise since he's the highest rated goalie in this draft class.

Personally, I'd rather they not take a goalie before round 4 since they're such a crapshoot + Fucale is smallish for a goalie at 6'1... I want big 'tenders going forward.

I agree with all this. But that is My NHL Draft, and we were talking about My Draft Site

Where their "consensus" has us picking Nichushkin, Vanelli & Poirier. Which I think is very very bad. If we draft 2 wingers and a defenseman I will be very mad.
