Absolutely loved the atmosphere in the arena this morning.
The kids even counted down the end of the freakin' warmups. They belted out every pop song that came on. They deafened every adult in the building when the Fan-O-Meter came on.
I wish we had crowds like that way way way more often. You could tell the players really drew energy from them too. Just as the play started getting sloppy, the kids started up a Go Heat Go chant and the players responded well.

Don't mention the Coach Ward thing on the main board, they are pretty sensitive about it I guess.
I put this in the other thread but, what does the top 6 look like without these two in it? Is this a good chance for Baertchi to move up and turn some heads? Be "that guy".

Yea, I saw some of the comments but honestly, he has a right to be frustrated. He's also trying to ice the best hockey team he can and with the call-ups and injuries he's having some difficulties in trying to get that done. The frustration seems justified.
I think Baertschi has to do that. I think this is his chance to show that he can produce when needed since aside from Street, the rest of the top scorers are gone. If he disappears and struggles during this time, I don't think it's going to help him gain position on next year.
And top 6 is a mess. My take:
Hanowski-Street-Jones
Baertschi-Locke-Jooris (based on chemistry together before)
so for tonight, that's Baertschi, Locke, Street, Jones, Olson, Elson, Jooris, Bancks and Kremyr, who all played yesterday. Who else? Trupp and Lyon are still with the Heat, correct? With them, they'd have 11 forwards. Maybe there's time left to bring in Eddy or McKelvie from Alaska ... and who knows who'll back up Roy. Fun day for Ward, that's for sure.
a guy named Michael Bogdanovich was signed to an ATO to backup Roy tonight, according to the AHL transactions page
also numerous "paper transactions", assigning Knight, Reinhart, Granlund and Ortio and immediately calling them up again. They'll be allowed to play in the AHL playoffs as a result.
What's the Heat's playoff cushion right now? It could be an ugly couple of weeks until guys start getting healthy in Calgary and the junior seasons start ending.

they are 5th in the Western Conference with 72 points. Oklahoma City is 9th with 59 points ... they are more than safe.
