Is one game worth the risk of losing Roy so we are then forced to go with someone on a PTO?
Every time he plays we risk finding ourselves in AHL goalie only mode. It's not so scary though, Danny Taylor and Barry Brust did a great job at it when they had too.

I'm not suggesting we keep whipping him until he falls over dead, my mentality is to let him play if he wants to. Kipper was like that, some goalies just want to play.

MacDonald is a wasted contract right now, because he's just a non-factor in any future plans. If we didn't have him, I could see us looking to scout a goalie, but I think we'll hold off on investing in anyone until he's off the books.

Think about earlier this season though, when they threw in Brossoit at the tail end of a 3-in-3 and they got absolutely pummelled. Can be a big chemistry shift tossing in a new goalie.

I just don't think this situation is as easy as 'put in the backup' because Dell has only been the backup for two days.

You're all probably right, though. Ward will likely take no risk. We'll see.

I'd prefer not to risk it right now. Not with 2 goaltenders (40% of our pro goaltenders) already hurt.

Pure speculation but the start time for this game might be pushed out a bit.

Heat's Twitter is showing pictures of the rink and as of 4pm MST it was still set up for basketball. No ice was installed and needs to be installed:

My understanding is the ice always stays installed beneath the basketball flooring. So they just remove the basketball floor, throw up the boards, pick up the ply wood and your are good to go.

Astle had already confirmed there is no ice under the boards. They have to make it.

Also if you look at the picture where that steel ramp is, you can see how thin it is on the concrete. No physical way that there is ice under that layer of tiles.

I don't know... I think it's there... I didn't see Astle say there was no ice underneath. Does anyone know how it's made then?

I found one video where they spray it and it takes 8 minutes a layer, and they have to paint it after the first two layers, seems like it would take a few hours just for the ice part, let alone the building conversion.

DePaul basketball game just ended here at Allstate Arena. Under 2 hours from puck drop and the ice isn't in yet..

Yea, it's a figure of speech. He doesn't mean they need to make the ice, he means they need to build the rink. There is no way it would be feasible to do it any other way.

I would almost think Knight plays center between them. Not sure I'd put Olson up on the 2nd line yet.

But who knows. I'm guessing outside of the Granlund-Reinhart-Jones line, we will see some serious tinkering.

It's hard to say what's going to happen I agree. Knight slipped my mind for some reason.
