Loved the episode too. My only complaint is with the effectiveness of that ballista. It would be really hard to hit a dragon with that thing. I know I'm nitpicking, but surely they would have built dozens of those things if they were that effective.

That was so good. I'd say it may have even surpassed the Battle of the Bastards.

I'm not sure why they burned the wagons instead of capturing them since they mentioned needing the food.

The best line was Davos correcting Jon's grammar.

Wow, the last part of that episode was really something else. I haven't been that on the edge of my seat watching a show in I can't even remember how long.

And Arya competency porn, what more could one ask for.

Good reunions, dumb writing in them but they were still emotional so it's fine. Jon and Theon reunion, also well done.

I can see what they're trying to do with Bran, but it feels clumsy and poorly done. Meera Reed deserves better, hopefully she gets a better part later on, it'd suck if that was her last bit.

So...

Dany believes in the Night King and will help fight.

Cersei gets her gold, but loses Jamie. Assuming he doesn't drown (which he won't why would they save him from fire to have him drown) he's now prisoner of Dany.

Which means a brotherly reunion next episode!

Littlefinger feeling a bit outmatched, Sansa not taking his crap, Bran showing he's transcended Littlefinger's puny view of the world, and finally watches Arya take on Brienne and must be thinking "wtf have I got myself into, what is with these people?!" But a skittish Littlefinger is probably a dangerous Littlefinger.

Jon's speech to Dany seems to have had an effect, but then she's attacking the Lanisters on the way to King's Landing, is she going to attack it anyway? Or is she going to try and convince Cersei to step down and join in fighting the Night King (which she won't)?

I think it is alright. The weapon is difficult to move and looks to be more something you add to a castle's defenses rather than use it to protect a marching army. It is also possible they are difficult to make and there are not many of them around yet.

Also Bron was using the weapon as one man and he managed to only get 2 shots off and came close to killing the dragon. If you had a team reloading the weapon and many of them aimed at a dragon, looks like they could be effective.

Maybe, but I don't think I was as on edge as with this one, maybe because the episode was already so jam packed with "zomg" moments.

They also added a new element to the plot. "The Golden Company"

The first thing Cersei is going to do with the Iron Bank's support is hire them to recover things that belong to her

Any theories on what she is talking about? Casterly Rock?

So that's where all the CGI money went...

My god that was amazing. The Dothraki cresting that hill and then Drogon. Wow.

Well, that was something else. Amazing battle scene, up there with the best in the show.

I'd put that battle behind only Hardhome. The suddenness of both of those battles seems to be a large part of what makes them great to me.

That scene at the tree was gorgeous. Sansa's red hair matching the red leaves, the deep blue background, off white tree...I had to pause for a moment on it.

The battle looked fantastic, but I'm not sure what it is, I just don't think you can make someone riding a dragon look good. Maybe my mind just goes back to Bastian riding Falcor...but it just isn't good. On the plus side the CGI was way better on the dragons.

Was that Bronn "saving" Jamie at the end? I assume they both drown?

Oh I'm sure because Bronn only wears leather he swims and pulls the heavily armored Jaime out of the water. I hope he is dead but doubt it.

Just a fantastic episode. Great pacing for the first half, unreal second half.

I hope the dragon isn't too hurt

If he was to die, the dragon would have roasted him. He will survive somehow and I would expect him to be a captive.
