the one plant really took... it's over 10' tall now - she LOVES it!

From a day along the Bow a few weeks back.

Scooter-lined street in Rapallo. I didn't have a camera with me, only iPhone. Not much quality in this shot, unfortunately.
Portofino Panorama (7-shot stitched)
We were told that the big black MAIN yacht down there was chartered by Dolce & Gabbana (it's not their own boat). Their villa is left of the brown castle on the very left of the shot). We think we saw them both walking down to the villa sun deck as we were at the castle looking down.
Speaking of beautiful public spaces, this is Place Massena in Nice. Noon light wasn't helping much, but the shot made out decent.

Bow Lake Sunrise
Spent a cold morning at Bow Lake a couple weekends back catching Orion setting over Crowfoot mountain and sunrise a short while later.

Got a chance to head into Lake O'Hara a few weeks back at the height of larch season. If you haven't been in there yet I highly recommend going in at least for a day of hiking or an overnight. Here are a few of my favourites.

Those are beautiful pics hh.
Anyone have experience trading in gear with The Camera Store? I'm sure one's better off selling on Kijiji or wherever, but just curious.

I don't think they normally accept trade-ins. They will occasionally but it's usually tied to a manufacturer promotion. I checked one out where you could trade-in to get Sony gear and the money they offered was quite a bit less than you could get privately.
They also sell on consignment but it's not much better.

They do have a page on their site where you can email them regarding trades, but yeah, I figured as much you're better off selling privately. Thanks.

KEH had an in-store event at the Camera Store a month or two ago, where people could drop by with their stuff and they would appraise/buy it off of you. I sold one of my lenses. The price I got was ok, not fantastic, but that's expected. You can definitely get a better price if you spend the time/effort to sell it privately...or you may just put it off and it will keep collecting dust.

Iceland
This summer my family and I went on a dream trip to Iceland. It's easily the most photogenic country I've ever visited. I did however struggle a little with the crowds, the feeling of being rushed while my wife and kid waited for me to get the perfect shot, and trying to see everything in the short time we were there. In all we drove 4001km over 19 days which sounds like a lot for Iceland, but I feel we only scratched the surface of what the country has to offer. If i were to do it again I think I'd focus more on one area and spend more time exploring.

a couple of very somber pictures from friday.
Capt. Joe Kolar, a local fire fighter, lost his battle with lung cancer that was a direct result of him being a fire fighter for almost 30 years. he was only 51.
the procession was lead by the members of the kelowna fire department, followed by a number of bag pipers, followed by Capt. Kolar in engine 1, followed by engine 5, followed by emergency service workers from all over canada.
it was awesome and absolutely gut wrenching at the same time.
