Pretty impressive start for him. I think we've got a player on our hands.
How do you think his offense translates to the NHL?

I've had in mind that he'll be one of those "elite" third line centers, which if you've seen my thoughts on Backlund is a very important position on a winning team. Can't see him being more then a 30 point guy in the NHL though.

What about a Craig Conroy-type player? Or at least a poor man's version of him?

That's what I'm thinking. On a winner you want a third line guy that is probably a 2nd line guy on a bad team. A guy that will put up around 30 points or 40+ when he's having a good year. Marcel Goc on the Panthers is a player I really like.

A third line center is probably a more valuable position then wingers on the 2nd line and it's a position I really value. It's why I always cringe when I see people say Backlund is just turning into a third line guy. The way he plays defense, like Knight can, could be very valuable to his NHL team.

Yah, Joel Otto was just a third line centre also He doesn't get mentioned often for his contribution to the Flames cup win, other than his OT goal versus Vancouver in game seven, but winning the cup in '89 would have been much more difficult without him if even possible.

I hate pegging him as a third line centre because he's got an NHL shot with wonderful accuracy. But who knows, he might be a great third liner.

Most of Knight's goals are in tight. Nothing wrong with that, but he can certainly shoot accurately from about the circles.

There's no doubt in mind he'll be a full-time NHLer soon and for years to come (hopefully with the Flames). So excited about him.
