Looks like a savy move by Busta relaxing in the 4th when he was way down, got his back worked on forever after the 4th. Pretty smart.

That reminded me of early career Agassi tanking a set in a close match after getting down to save himself for the final set.

21 years old - I think he will get more looks.

Yup, as opposed to PCB who is 29 which is not old for tennis (these days right in the middle of your prime tennis years) who knows this is his Marin Cilic moment.

Tough result for Denis, but compared to where he was at during times last season, this is a huge win. He is currently light years ahead of Felix and many other next gen players in terms of committing to playing all court tennis, defending and not simply trying to blast his opponent off the court.
I suspect he'll be ready to seize the moment once again and has learned a great deal from this event.

aside from the obvious cutting down double faults, adding a slice backhand for both returns and rally variation will vault Shapo's game into true contender territory. hopefully this is stuff Youzhny will focus on when they're able to train together again.

I don't know if I could handle the schadenfreude if a woman who hasn't played tennis in 3 years ends up eliminating Serena today. Pironkova wins the opening set 6-4 and looks great thus far.

We need a 3rd and deciding set - Also, I didn't see the serve clock on set point, but that sure seemed to be a lot longer than 25 seconds. Of course, the ESPN commentators remained mute.

They're still talking about the left handed return.

To be fair, that was some quick thinking, but Pironkova still should have won that point.

Too bad, Pironkova has run out of gas and it looks like Serena will advance to the semi-finals.

She is very tough to finish off. You're playing against a legend of the game and it has to factor into the opponent's mentality.

####ing rights Medvedev comes back to take the first set. I really like his game and he and Thiem are the only two I want to see win this.

Good call NF, Medvedev played some awesome tennis today. As you said earlier, it should be a great match between him and Thiem.
