I think we got Curtis Lazar for a second too

This was straight up business. I highly doubt that there were any hard feelings.
He is actually a decent defenseman when healthy. It makes sense and gives the team some flexibility.
I am just hoping that this means Treliving and the agent are still in a room hammering out a deal with Tkachuk.

I know, my jokes just aren't funny.
If memory serves, Jordan Leopold, Chris Higgins (kinda), Carey Wilson, Mike Vernon, Jim Peplinski, Phil Housley, and Brian McGrattan are all also two-term Flames.
Edit: Steve Begin, Jason Wiemer, and Cale Hulse, too

Plus Jamie Mclennan and CP's own KevanGuy
Does Roger Johansson count too?
One more: Steve Konroyd who probably had the largest gap between stints.

So the question is who will be the next former Flame to return? I thought Mcbackup would be here by now.

The poster that said this was coming earns some credibility today.
Maybe he can let us in on some other rumblings.

While I can fully agree with this, the fact that we have Brodie and Andersson as legitimate top 4 options does make Hamonic pretty expendable...
If our top 6 were
Gio - Brodie
Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Stone
that'd be pretty balanced. One elite skater and one steadier guy on each pair. No one slotted too high, either.

Hamonic specifically asked to be moved out west to be near his family.
Brodie has already been all-but traded away, had Kadri not blocked it.
I think one of these players is a lot more likely to stay around than the other.
Plus, Hamonic brings more dimensions that the Flames are short on. Plus, he'd likely re-sign for less in the first place.
Anyways, I like Stone and I'm glad the Flames are keeping him around for depth.

Lol, Brodie is a steadier guy than Hamonic. Ok. Maybe at skating.

A top 4 with Gio at 36, Hamonic, and Andersson... I'd be very wary about the skating limitations.

Brodie would be the elite skater on that pair. Obviously Gio would be the steadier guy.

I'm a little concerned about the precedent this deal sets. A team can easily buy out one of their veterans and sign them to a team friendly deal.
Think Getzlaf, Bobby Ryan, Seabrook (in a few years), Turris, etc....
Also makes you think if GMs just didn't know this rule before. I'm sure guys like Eric Staal in Carolina, Shattenkirk in NY or Marleau in Toronto would have re-signed at a friendlier deal. Some of those guys really liked the team they played for.
Good for Tre for knowing the rules, I guess.
