Well, personally I’m against trading our 2019 1st and I guarantee that’s what it would take to acquire Kane, or JVR or even Neal. It’s cheaper more realistic option and it’s what we need, more forward depth and someone who can jump on the PP and replace Brouwer for better net front prescence.

The Flames get a quality depth player to go along with the other guys in the organization. Pageau's only 25 and can play up and down the line up and is versatile as both a C and RW. Shoots right also. Makes 3.1 million, so sending Stajan equals out the contracts for this season, although I think the Flames could work it out without needing to move Stajan (Versteeg to the IR + cap space would mean the team could add him without being over the cap)

Then sign Kane to a contract extension and bring up Anderson

I don't think I trade any of our goalie prospects named Rittich, Gillies or Parsons. Smith is the best goalie we've been able to acquire since Kipper and he's only got a few years left in the tank. You gotta keep the three mentioned above and hope one of them can develop into a starter within the next few years.

Good goaltending has been difficult to find for our team so if we are going to trade we should use our organizational depth on defense to do so.

As it stands now what I feel the team needs most is to get more gritty and difficult to play against. Even adding just one guy in that mold to the 4th line would go a long way IMO.

To Buffalo: Brouwer, Wotherspoon, 3rd Rd pick
To Calgary: Girgensons, Moulson

Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowski-Jagr
Girgensons-Lazar-Hathaway

I have no clue if the above is a realistic proposal but it does seem like Calgary and Buffalo have something cooking and it doesn't seem like Tre to give up the assets required to get a pending UFA like Kane.

I doubt Brouwer actually goes anywhere given his NTC for this season but one could dream.

Eric Francis for Mark Spector. Both are terrible journalists but Francis's negative Nancy act would be great to see in Edmonton and Spector can pick the Flames to win the SC, Smith to win the Vezina, Brodie to win the Norris, and Gaudreau to win everything else. I also look forward to his article on how Troy Brouwer has been battling a cold since he signed with the Flames and once he shakes it look out!!!
