Default So if they don't make it, do you follow the playoffs, how do you kill time

More out of curiosity for me then anything else.

If the Flames fail to make the playoffs, leading to a long 6 to 7 months of no local hockey. What do you do? What do you do maaaann?

1) Do you follow the playoffs?
  • Are you there everynight, with breathless anticipation?
  • do you pick a temporary favorite team and go all in like Homer Simpson and the Isotopes? Do you buy a white long sleeved T-Shirt and use fabric pens to create a fake jersey crappy logo look?
  • Or do you become casual. You flip on the the TV and all that's on is reruns. But oh the Leafs are paying the Pens, you tune over and grumble that both teams suck and can't get the energy togther to manage a fist pump when a team scores
  • Eh, hockey's done for the year, I'm going to work on my (Some kind of hobby), binge watch (some random TV series), read a good book (Death of a salesman, bug uns magazine)

Are you going to come to the hockey board here or anywhere else all that of often?
  • I'm going to be here every day sumbytch, I'm going to let my voice be heard, participate in every mock trade thread, and have the site logged on throughout the playoffs and right through to August
  • Go to lurker mode on the hockey board side of things,
  • Flee, Flee for the virtual hills
  • Become a paid member of the Kardassian family of websites.
  • Go full born underground, where you limit your electronic signature because you realize that the NSA is monitoring this site and probably are going to dispatch small robots to shoot your face off 36 times and make it look like s suicide

Are you going to
  • Wait in breathless anticipation for free agency and the draft, buy every hockey magazine, go to as many stats sites as possible and create a needs list, while doing a mock draft with your buddies
  • Wake up one morning and go, oh its draft day, and put it on in the background as you work in your shop converting big blocks of wood to little blocks of wood, and little blocks of wood into sawdust.
  • Meh the (unamed summer sports franchise that I like) ain't that bad, and I can catch up on the draft news using this handy app later.
  • Pick up the paper the day after the draft and say So that's what happened?
  • Sometime in September go to the NHL site and the Flames roster and then stroke your chin knowingly while saying "Yes","No","uh huh" to no one in particular.

I would cheer for Vegas. What Gallant has done with that team is nothing short of a miracle. Also just goes to show you that going out hard and playing your ass off every night can bring you more success then having a team of all skill. Something I wish the Flames will take note from.

If you are a hockey fan, you keep watching.

There is no better example of the way the game is played than the first and second rounds IMO.

If you are a Flames fan, then you likely find something else to occupy your time.

I'll watch. Love the playoffs, even if the Flames aren't in. Pick the teams to root against and away I go.

I'll watch the playoffs, likely cheering against Vegas, LA, San Jose, and Anaheim (if they make it).

Flames season coming to a disappointing means it's time to switch over to baseball. My baseball team (Nats) likes to end their season in disappointing fashion too which works well for switching back to a hopeful season of hockey, that will ultimately end in disappointment.

Why do I keep doing that to myself!!

Gotta find a backup team for water cooler talk. Going with Nashville this year, I want them to win it all.

Between games, I will grumble and kvetch about Flames problems, of which there are many.

In a week and a half, I will go back to watching the Dodgers crush the National League like 14 flabby grapes.

I'm at the point where I can hardly be bothered to watch a game even when the Flames are playing and doing well. Take the Flames out of the equation and I couldn't care less about the playoffs.

Playoff hockey is awesome, so I'm still gonna watch. I hope the Leafs and Ducks gets swept in the 1st round.

Same with the Golden Knights. They can take their miracle cinderella season and piss right off. It feels like we've been waiting a lifetime for the Flames to ice a competitive playoff caliber team. And then Vegas comes along and gets one right out of the gate in their very first season? Seriously, f*** that team.

You just know the final will be Pens vs. Knights, Murray vs. Fleury etc.

Baseball and surfing after work for me. If Flames are out, my NHL season is over. I will follow the scores casually but won't be watching any of the games.

Vegas has more skill than most of the league...its just nobody wants to admit it

compare our RWers to theirs

How many teams have 40 goal scorers?

I still love hockey and the NHL outside of the Flames, so I will watch for the intensity, the storylines, and the 3AM triple OT marathons

If a game goes to OT I will probably check in but otherwise I have no interest in watching.

I urge everyone to boycott the Jays until Rogers sells a portion of their NFL games back to TSN.
