No where else to put this, but i found it hilarious.
I was perusing some online vendors and saw hash oil for sale. Went to the reviews and this was one of them

Actually watching this on the news this morning there were independents that wanted to stall this. There's no consensus with the Independent group and they can't be whipped.
Also there are a bunch of Senators that aren't showing up.

According to this, it could be quite close:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/gove...vote-1.4586113
33 Conservatives, vs 54 others that support it. But with 20 of those away, that's 33 vs 34. Not sure where the support of the other unmentioned 8 lie.

Is there a reason that Senators can't vote by proxy? Or that votes are held at all while people are away?

There will never ever be a vote where the Senate is fully attended.
I used to think that remote voting would be a thing both from an elections thing and from a governmental thing, but with the hacking stuff that we're seeing, I doubt that's ever going to happen.

Surely the government could find a way to have them call or Skype in to register their vote. It's only some fraction of 96 people. And because it isn't anonymous, it makes it a lot easier, technically.

The CBC article said they are out west on senate committees, so they are doing their job, just a different part of it.

Or just sign a proxy and let a Senator in attendance vote for you.

I doubt that they will ever allow that to happen, it allows a revenue for questionable voting and also someone can then come back later and say, I told him to vote this way and he didn't so this whole law has to be thrown out.

And the response would be "no. f off". Because that's the point of a proxy. You gave your voting power to someone else.
A better reason why there won't be proxy voting allowed is that it would violate the alleged independence of the senators that Trudeau blustered on about. You may as well just keep the senators in your party and apply the whip at that point.
As it is, it would be rather amusing if Trudeau's big marijuana promise failed because of his independent senator stunt. OTOH, thanks to the independent senator stunt, Trudeau might also learn that leaving 10% of the senate vacant is rather dumb. Particularly since there is one seat that has been left empty for 14 months now.

If you know people here, ask if any of them has a membership to the dispensary on 17th ave. Other than that, you're just going to have to get lucky and hope you run into someone who can help you out.

A proposed Calgary bylaw would ban public consumption of cannabis across the city, largely limiting use to private homes, once legalization of the drug comes into effect this summer.
The proposed rules, to be considered by a council committee next week, go much further than those put forward by the province last fall which would allow cannabis to be smoked, vaped or consumed on sidewalks and in public parks.
|
Quote:
The proposed public ban is likely to disappoint some cannabis users, particularly those living in multi-family dwellings, who could also be barred from using inside their own homes by landlords and condo boards.
|
Good on banning it in multi family but no good to ban it anywhere in public IMO.
The multi family thing always seemed dumb to me, even if medicinal. I don’t get how ruining other people’s property and potentially endangering their health would be protected for any reason. There’s better ways to consume than smoking. Allowing it seems idiotic.

I seriously can't wait for legalization. I have a card, and although it was fun to order stuff and have it delivered, going to a store is WAY easier, with a lot more stuff to choose from.
I work in Washington where it's 100% legal, and the selection is amazing at the big retail stores.
- THC Mineral Water
- THC beer
- THC soft drinks
- THC condiments
- THC candy
- pre loaded flavoured vape pens
- edibles of all varieties (chocolate, etc etc )
- flowers of all variety
- Keurig coffee pods with THC
- hardware for just about anything (bongs etc)
It was AWESOME. I walked in, showed ID, bought a pre loaded vape pen and then spent 4 hours ordering room service and watching movies in my hotel room. Had a great sleep, went to a few meetings, and then flew home.
This is what I'm patiently waiting for here.

Looks like the Ciry is proposing rules that will make weed essentially similar to booze. Will be banned in public and such. I’ll be happy if the bylaw passes.

Banning smoking in public seems reasonable for the same reason as banning in multifamily. Not sure the odors off of vaping if similar to nicotine then it wouldn't be a big deal.

Except you can smoke in public, which is far worse. It makes no sense.
And in public you can just not stand there and breath the second hand smoke. Being forced to inhale second hand smoke in your own home doesn’t have that option.
