Ridleys also has a sale right now. https://www.ridleys.com/product-list/sales-pg213/
Some decent prices on winter gear.

Also, I was at Trailsports in Canmore yesterday getting some x-country skis and they are selling some small and x-small Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt 750's for $2300, regular $3700. These were in the rental fleet and they looked to be in pretty good shape. They have 2 of each.
My friend's wife bought a rocky blizzard 10 for $700 from them yesterday. It's a surprise for him.

At first glance, I was thinking this is maybe an early April Fool's prank...

The most vocal opponent of cycling on Calgary's city council has been appointed to the city's Pathways and Bikeways Project Steering Committee.

Coun. Sean Chu will be filling a seat left vacant by former councillor Brian Pincott.

Chu has been a vocal opponent against cycle tracks in Calgary for years, and once described the construction of a proposed bike lane as "madness."
Perhaps being in the position with people who care about cycling in Calgary will change his mentality.

I've spoken to him about bike lanes. I highly doubt anything short of his daughter getting run over while biking would change his mind. He has this fantasy idea that bikes only belong on pathways and maybe sidewalks, with a line painted on them. I'd love it if we had pathways that went everywhere I needed to go, but we don't.

I have no idea what good he is going to do no this committee.

I can only imagine 3 reasons for him going in there. To expose him to the idea that bikes are used extensively in Calgary or to have him play the bad guy when making cuts and killing any bike-related initiatives. Or it could be like the article stated and have some balance on the committee.

I'm fine with a balanced opinion, but it has to come from someone who responds to logic and is willing to educate themselves on the facts, not yell "fake news!" when confronted with statistics from the city.

Exactly, and every quality you describe Chu does not have.

The Deadgoats are hosting the Ghost of the Gravel once again this year on Jun 17. Special guest this year is Phil Gaimon. It's a great race, you should check it out.

So earlier this week I dropped my commuter off to have new brakes installed, they do the install and I pick up my bike and a few other things today.

I was given a gift card for the bike shop for Christmas, and I planned on using it to pay for part of the upbgrade and I then forget to pull it out of my wallet at the till.

Oh well, I guess i’ll Have to use the card for some other stuff.....

Checked out the Calgary Cycle sale. It took all my will power not to spend $7k on the Emonda.

Some great deals to be had for sure.

I put "summer" tires on my "winter" bike today. Not quite ready to take the road bike out yet, but i'm hoping I can manage with slicks on my touring bike for the next few weeks.

I've got way to much ice on my pathway route to switch to summers yet. If it doesn't snow again all week, I might be ok after Easter. But their is a lot of snow still to melt flooding my route.

I really gotta hand it to you but ya who are riding lately. I went for a spin on my fat bike ( with non-studded tires) yesterday and riding on the pathway was frustrating as in the Deep South, the path was a mix of bare pavement with snow packed/frozen slush sections and the temporary ice flows of varying lengths, and some of these flows were treacherous.

To me riding in the morning with nothing but a bike light and city lighting requires some real skill and patience.

I've got about 4 different routes in, depending on what the temperature was the day before, if it has snowed recently, morning temp..all are better or worse for specific days. I will be much happier when a big melt happens and gets rid of all the snow bordering the paths.

It's been awesome in my neighbourhood. The streets are bare, so the kids are all out riding bikes.

I’ve been riding the roads in the mornings as the path is an icy disaster in spots.

Huge props to Bow Cycle. Took my commuter in yesterday for a new bottom bracket. Told them I really needed it back quickly, they did it on the spot for me. This was a guy in the mechanic shop who didn’t know me at all. Looking forward to a nice smooth ride in tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up! I did check out the new Calgary Cycle on Bow TR - didn't corral a new bike, but did get a sweet deal on some other stuff.
