I get what you're saying, I do, but I'm getting tired of this whole probabilities thing at this point in the season. The Flames are 3 points out of the last wild card spot, the standings changes every single day and we really only need to be better than two teams above to get in. Over the last 10 games the Stars have collected 2 more points than us, the Avs 4, the Sharks 5, the Kings 6, the Ducks 7. Those numbers are over a 10 game segment, and there are 14-15 games left right now.
If the Flames manage to use the win in Buffalo as a springboard and string a few wins together versus these weaker opponents, and then somehow beat the California teams, which does not feel impossible at all, the standings can turn around lightning fast. We're due for a good run right now after all.
What were the probabilities that the Panthers would be on the bubble or that the Flames and the Blues would be on the outside 10 games ago? Yeah. The damn season is not over yet. The final wild card may very well be up for grabs until the final game of the season. It wouldn't be the first time.
