Can't wait. Have to ride from work down to Volvo to p/u my car in the late afternoon (winter tires put on). Figure I'll get a heck of a tailwind while I ride south.

So, I have a bit of an update for you.

I rode over to Zero Issue and this is a nasty route for you. The infrastructure in the north east is pretty terrible. Your best bet is to take the nose creek path until it reaches the 32nd ave connector. Then you'd need to take 32nd to 12th and reach the pathway that is over by 12th that Bigtime referenced. You'd be going really out of your way, but it would be safer. My bigger concern is that riding on 32nd or 12th could be pretty gross in the winter with cars and rutted snow pack.

Yup, if you do take 12th street north to get to that McKnight pathway you can turn off 12th street at 44th avenue to save yourself some stress and connect to the pathway that way.

My Intact homeowner policy now covers e-bikes. Max value of a bike in the default policy is only $3K though, so check that if it matters to you.

yeah its a 10+ year old bike we got on kijiji for 400 bucks. its not astronomical and i wouldnt look to get a new one by any stretch, just not really feeling like paying 100+ bucks out of our pocket to get new pedals and a wheel true because someone wasnt paying attention while driving. ill check the home insurance route for sure

Had a little bit of spare time today, and the wind was flat so I figured I'd go for one last burn around nose hill before winter sets in. For the most part it was a glorious ride, not many people up there, and the wind blowing over the golden grass in waves was a nice touch. Nice firm ground for ripping, which saw me in the far NE corner...right as the wind started picking up. From the SW. Looks like it is currently 33km/h gusting to 68, and man, I felt all 68 of those km's! Great to be out one last time though, with the blue sky and sun.



Forecast is for the wind to flip to the NW soonish, so, uh, either get home quick or hope it switches soon!

I am looking for any suggestions for cycling challenges/tours for next year. I just recently completed a ride across the UK from Lands end to John O Groats, which was amazing. I signed up for that around this time last year & that kept me motivated for the whole of the winter & in the build up for the event. Since I have got back I have been struggling a little for motivation to keep on top of the training. I have been looking at the Gran Fondo's for next year, which I will probably sign up for, & have been trying to motivate myself to just do it faster than I have before, but its not the same. Has anyone got any suggestions for tours/challenges that would be similar?

Tailwind for me! Saw a fellow rider in the NE this morning with those valve lights on their bike. Anyone ever used them before? I kind of like the idea of a little colour and extra visibility, especially in the winter riding.

I didn't put mine on this year, kinda lazy I guess. I found the batteries last most of the winter though, which is good. I should put them back on.
