Apparently you can put fences on the rocks on islands to stop the roach spawns!

Now if I could only find a bamboo island for once.

The only bamboo I have currently is growing from the 3 bamboo shoots I got in the mail.

Bamboo island is super easy to find.
- Fly on a mystery island tour and notice it's 2 min before 7 after you take off
- Get there after 7 and discover its raining and tarantulas don't come out in the rain.

This game hates it's players. In a hilariously ironic way.

I've got some growing now so I should be fine, just thought it was weird.

Only went to 1 island tonight, normal island, regular fruit regular trees regular flowers.

So I tried the fence on the rock thing, crafted fence with just the materials I harvested while stripping the island and it totally works, blocks the roach spawn. I stripped it down to one tree so the only thing that could spawn were Atlas moths, water bugs, tiger beetles, and tarantulas, and I filled up my inventory with moths and tarantulas pretty fast after that.

I'm sure they'll patch that out though.

Do you guys only go to islands at night so you can get tarantulas to spawn? Where do you put everything you clear? Just leave it on the ground?

I have had 3 in a row of the island with rare flowers (purple and orange roses?) which are not great. The best I can really get to spawn during the day is those paper butterflys and the jewel beetles on the stumps.

I mostly go after 7pm and there are a few islands I've had luck on. Obviously tarantula island is the best as you can fill your inventory in no time. Bamboo island is my next favorite because you can gut the whole island and have a huge area to work with. The islands with water start to make it difficult to maneuver (plus they introduce giant water bugs) and the ones with a step up can take forever.

To clear an island I pick all the flowers and weeds, chop down all the trees and dig up all the stumps, eat fruit and break all the rocks, pick up all seashells and dig up any fossils. Then I dump everything on the beach in one of the corners of the map. Next I dig a diamond in a 5x5 area in the middle of the map or a big open area depending on the map. Then just run around scaring all the lesser bugs (roaches that spawn on the black rocks in the top corner of the map and those tiger beetle things) until the tarantula's spawn.

Yeah daytime isn't great for bugs for islands, more for just general resources/fossils/furniture/message bottles and fishing.

If I'm not mistaken, Tarantulas don't spawn after April (but Scorpions do). So there's only a bit of time left.

they spawn in the rain just less frequently because of mole cricket spawns.

Maybe I’m “that guy” here, but what’s the point of even playing the game at all if you’re just gonna cheese it for bells and date skip and get everything you want in a couple days? It’s like those kids that would use Gameshark to get every Pokemon at level 100 instantly. Congratulations, the game is over.

Last night I Was streaming on twitch, I think I met the Willie Wonka of the Animal Crossing world. She stopped by my island for a bit, then invited me to hers...it was insane. She claimed to be a Nintendo Game Tester and have been playing the game for 6-8 Hours a day for the last 6 months. Anyway, here is a screen capture of what her fossil section of the museum was...it looked like Drumheller.

After being shown around her island and museum for about an hour, she gave me 50k In Bells and then just sent me off.

I only time travel to get to different times of day, and once to rebuy the turnips I lost from when I didn't know that travelling back a few hours would spoil them.

When I was too addicted to Stardew Valley that's exactly how I made myself quit; I cheated and completed stuff, and I lost interest.

So I'm not doing that with this game, at least not until I want to force myself to move on.

I've been collecting fossil duplicates, I want to have a bunch on display around the museum. I found out for the t-rex fossil you can open and close the jaws of the skull! Neat.

I also just unlocked the path and landscaping stuff.

For iron yeah just make sure you mine all 5 rocks on your island each day and take trips to other islands.

My museum looks almost like that! I just wish we had a critterpedia for fossils.
