Anyone know if we’ll a get jets flyover for the Stamps game like usual or would they be cancelled due to the smoke?

A member of the YYC Spotters page on Facebook said they were still a go as of 3:30. Have to say I was surprised to see that.

Update, the CF-18's scrubbed the flyby. Landing at YYC.

I assume that big dark mess over the wing is hydraulic fluid?

I think it's dirt sprayed up from the nose gear. That, or passengers poop...

Pretty solid landing actually. Still on its gear and everything.

Wouldn't dirt from the nose wheel have left something on the leading edge of the wing? This looks like it erupted from the top of the wing.

My face is a bum!

I haven't flown domestic in a long time. I'm heading to YYZ on a 6am Flair flight. I have Nexus for what it's worth. How late can I stroll in there, carry-on only, and have a 98% chance of making my flight?

I would say walking in the airport door at 4:45 you should be good. I've done 60 minutes before for a flight to Regina and it was super sketchy but I made it with just under 5 minutes to spare.

I was gonna say 5:00. Considering that NEXUS holders have to take minimal things out (liquids and large electronics can stay in bags) at security, process should be a lot quicker.
I'm imagining a 5:20 boarding time, 20 minutes ought to be enough time to go from curb to gate... If they close the flight 10 minutes before departure, you will have plenty of time.

Agreed. Just check what gate you’re at, if your parking then have to walk to the new terminal it can add some time. If you’re getting dropped off, just make sure you’re dropped off near the closer security checkpoint.
Other thing I discovered a week ago about the new verified traveller lineup (including for people who have nexus). The security at the A gates suggested we go to concourse C because they have a dedicated verified traveller line, whereas at A you still mix in with regular people, and you still have to take more stuff off and out. But it’s debatable which way is faster depending on where your gate is.
Either way an hour should be enough 95-98% of the time.

The new Nexus features in Canada have only recently been implemented and are really only partially implemented. For example, not removing liquids and clothing items is only at C security and all the other security checkpoints still operate the same way for everyone regardless of Nexus. Nexus will get you through the line a bit quicker though.

Thanks for all the tips! So basically I can get dropped off at door 11 or 12, go through security checkpoint C, then rely on brisk walking to make it to any A, B or C gate from there?

Yup! There’s also the little buses if you don’t like to walk.
