Icon36 Rangers offseason

after a really good second half to the season and a tough game 7 loss in round 1, it's time for some re-tooling.

To NYR: D Esa Lindell, G Mackenzie Blackwood
To NJ: F Gustav Nyqvist, F Carl Soderberg

To NYR: F Ryan Dzingel, F Jeremy Bracco, 90th overall
To EDM: D Hampus Lindholm

giving up three really good players is tough, but it made some sense. Big fan of Lindell, and Blackwood was a more than welcome addition to our shallow G depth. Hopefully he can build on his solid rookie season. Adding Lindell allowed us to move Lindholm for some forward depth. Bracco dominated the AHL this year, he should get a shot with the cap-strapped Leafs this upcoming season. Dzingel is coming off a really good season, hopefully he'll find a good new home as UFA.

More moves to come, obviously. Thanks to 3thirty and savardandjokinen!

Dzingel a tough guy to give up but unsure if he can repeat success without Duchene and Stone. I expect him to be a driving force for the Rangers offense. Bracco is a good prospect, led the AHL in scoring, and probably gets a top 9 chance with the leafs if and when they need to shed salary.

Lindholm was a huge acquisition however, and we want to build our team differently this season. With Lehner and Grubauer between the pipes, lindholm solidifies a very solid defense of Klingberg, Parayko, Girard, Matheson and Edmundson. Probably gonna need to trade Matheson or Edmundson at some point due to cap but that time will be determined later.

Thanks to Devo for the deal!!

I hate giving up Lindell, but two solid players with a cap hit if only 2.0 million each(nyquist for two years) is why I did this. Blackwood has a great year, but I have a ton of goalies so he was expendable.
