Eh agree to disagree. Cap’s going up, sit out and save the miles, force the team to pay you or let you go. These aren’t Cook and Elliott, these guys haven’t even gotten a second contract yet. To assume they’ll sit on the market like 6-9 year vets isn’t the same IMO. Someone will pay and with the cap going up you’ll make back that money. You go back, let’s say to the raiders, and Jacobs is going to get run into the ground. Nah I’d sit

Cap has been going up for years and RB contracts, well, not so much. So to assume they will absolutely make up the difference in guaranteed money going to market next year is a big risk. Even playing half the season exposes them to a potential ACL, which would render their future earnings to basically nothing (relatively speaking). Even a double cap is ~$22 million guaranteed, which is still pretty good. If both got to market right now without the tag I can only see the worst franchises in the league even considering that, and even then likely not.

End of the day this is just the evolution of the game. In a passing dominant league, in a cap world, running backs are simply near the bottom of the importance level. Throwing the ball with the worst QB in the league is still more efficient than running it with the best RB. More and more in the future I see the running game being dominated by QBs and Deebo types, and more short passing eliminating the traditional running game.

good stuff. T.J. Watt obviously gets most of the limelight, but Highsmith was fantastic last season (14.5 sacks and 5 forced fumbles). Deserves every cent.

Forget how to embed twitter here, but Seahawks just released their retros. Love those.

IMO they should go back to the retros full time.

Honestly...rookie contracts for RB's should be one year shorter than other positions because they tend to produce earlier and have that short shelf life. At least one less year on a rookie deal might get some of those guys a 3 year second contract with some guaranteed money.

The secondary helmet rules has opened the floodgates for all the new unis. Seattle of course looks solid with the right colors, but needs the silver helmet.

Minnesota looks meh, Cleveland all white looks ok. Indy's look awful, black for the sake of black.

Obviously these retros are just once a year. Seattle has blue, white, wolf grey and the neon green, my guess is one of those last two are dropped.

While the retro is cool, coming up with a set of uniforms, now that you can have multiple helmets, like the Rams and Chargers have done since their move to the new stadium, with multiple jerseys and pants colors to interchange, some which have retro aspects, but none actually designated retro, is going to be the way to go.

- Jaguars assistant strength and conditioning coach Kevin Maxen has become the first male coach in major American men's professional sports to publicly come out as gay, telling Outsports.com he made the decision because he didn't want to hide who he was any longer and to possibly inspire others in similar situations.

"I don't want to feel like I have to think about it anymore," Maxen said in the piece published Thursday afternoon. "I don't want to feel like I have to lie about who I am seeing or why I am living with someone else.

"I want to be vocal in support of people living how they want to live, but I also want to just live and not feel fear about how people will react."

Good for him.

Unfortunately you can almost guarantee some player will come out and say something idiotic about it.

Minnesota Vikings rookie receiver Jordan Addison was cited Thursday morning for speed and reckless driving after an officer clocked him driving 140 mph on a freeway just outside of St. Paul, according to an incident report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

According to the police report, a patrol officer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 94 just after 3 a.m. when they "observed a driver in a Lamborghini Urus traveling 140 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone." The trooper made a traffic stop and identified Addison as the driver.

Given the UGA coach says his team has a speeding problem, still, something isn't getting through to players

Huge difference between driving beyond intoxicated and killing someone , and a young man seeing how fast his Lamborghini can go on a highway at 3am

How many of us took their car out and went fast late at night on a highway with no one around with they were young ?

I’ve gone and been in cars that broke 200 KPH for a very short period being young and dumb and having stupid fun

Ideal ? No . Dangerous . To an extent but minimal (assuming sober). The fact he wasn’t arrested really makes this a nothing burger . Just a young man being a foolish young man

Minimal does not mean none .

And he rolled his pickup on an exit going to fast . Not going in a straight line at 3am with no one around

You really just gave an example of a truck accident . Hundreds happen every day

It’s nothing like what Ruggs did . Not even in the same discussion

I can say I never took my car out and went 140 mph not that if I did it would mean it is no big deal for Addison to do it.

Maybe it is just me not getting the appeal of it but with his wealth he could surely book time at a track to go faster, for longer with little to no risk to himself and zero risk to innocent people.

Maybe that takes some of the fun out of it but there is zero reason for anyone to risk this and no BS excuse that excuses what is nothing but an absolutely moronic decision by Addison. It is sad the penalty is so little people can pass it off as nothing.
