It already happened. Bollig wore 52 in Chicago and switching to 25 here was probably only due to Burke's number rule.

Did a couple seasons ago.
So Bennett (still a rookie) moves up, Jooris down to a non-training camp number, Bollig away from 25 (for some reason, likely had that in CHI?) and new free agent gets a high number.
Expanded as said, but I don't think Burke's rules around this are gone for good. When Jagr comes here at the deadline, I'm sure #68 will be ok.
Also, I think the league has some sort of rules, certainly for established/star players, that numbers can't be switched around "just because", because of the league wide merchandising.

Here I thought it was raining in Calgary but it turns out that it's Brian Burke's tears from numbers going above 40.

Any idea how you go about doing that? Just go to a Jersey City and ask to get just he lettering re-done?
