Thumbs down Andre Devaux defines a pure hockey goon UPD: arrest warrant issued.

Former NHLer goon Andre Devaux with perhaps the ugliest display in hockey.

Game took place in Sweden.

The incident took place during warmup for a qualification game between Deveaux’s Rogle BK and Vasteras IK from this past Thursday to see which team would be promoted to Sweden’s first league. The player who was slashed is Vasteras’ captain Per Helmersson.

Supposedly the slash was in retaliation to this hit from Helmersson on Deveaux from the prior playoff game which went unpenalized.

That's brutal. I'd say charges pending.

Do you have the clip of Per Helmersson hit form behind?
Found it. Both dirty plays.

Is there any way to ban him in leagues he's not currently in?

I want him banned from playing hockey period. That's up there with some of Simon's nonsense.

This should 100% be a criminal charge. That was a straight up assault. Do that in the street and you are doing time.

If there was ever a situation to bring outside authorities in and criminally charge someone, this is it.
Not that the Bert incident wasnt bad but this is on a whole new level.
Some may look at the outcome and it appears he wasn't hurt too bad where as Moore faced much worse however I look at intent and this is a blatant attempt to inflict as much damage on someone as possible.

Its fataing insane! He charges a guy from behind during the warmup and lumberjacks his legs!

If he has to be held to account for something then fine, when the game is on you challenge him and let come what may, but that was straight out assault.

Wow, proceed directly to jail. Not sure how he doesn't get premeditated assault with a weapon...

I would agree that this is worthy of a criminal charge. That's disgusting.

But was the guy hurt on the play? That's the big question the NHL would ask

I'm usually never on the side that wants to bring criminal charges to an act within a hockey game. But how can you not in this case? Go up to someone on the street and wack them with a stick, that's assault. So how is that different then doing it in an organized event like a hockey game? If he doesn't get charged I'd like to see a justified reason as to why not. Charge this guy and ban him for life. One of the stupidest things I've ever seen in anything hockey related.

If that doesn't quantify a lifetime ban, I don't know what does.

I usually don't call for criminal charges either, but I do not consider the warm-up as part of the game. At no point do any of these players consent to physical contact during warm-up. Agreed that it is one of the rare times charges would be warranted.
