Need to get the screen in a sliding patio door replaced. Anyone had one done recently? Recommendations? Ballpark price?
Thanks!

Less than 12 bucks?
We've replaced the screen in our patio door a few times because of kids and dogs trying to go through the damn thing without opening it all the way. These kits come with standard sized spline, the screen, and the roller tool to put it all together. It's a little bit finicky, but it's not very hard. I've done it so you know it's not rocket science.

Agreed! I had a hole in my screen for 2 years that I just turned into a doggy door then finally decided to fix it once I was putting the house up for sale. 30 mins and 12 dollars later the screen was fixed. It is very simple and straight forward!

I'm thinking about doing a major reno including new kitchen, removing a wall, new floors, new fireplace, etc. I'm pseudo handy so I'll probably do some of the smaller stuff myself but want the big stuff done right.
Can anyone recommend a decent contractor that they've had good experience with?

Our kitchen ceiling has some sagging drywall, and the built in fan is shot. Thinking I need some drywall repair done, and some electrical.
Anyone have a recommendation for a general contractor that might be able to do this kinda work?

I've been installing tile in the bathroom that I have been working on the past month and a bit. Another two or three days to finish it off (lots of cuts and odd angles making progress slow). Won't have the shower done for a while because I have to map out the tiles to make it look good, but it isn't necessary for the time being.
Can't wait to get it finished and the vanity installed so I can show some more pictures.

I need some basement advice.
This crude and not-to-scale picture below shows my basement:
I'm wanting to add some carpet/pad to a 12x13' section of the basement.
I've laid tack strip along the outside walls.
The problem is a sloped floor and drain sitting 1' inside of that area.
The yellow shows the area I would ideally like to carpet.
I bought an old school metal strip to transition from carpet to concrete.
But because of the slope, I don't know what to do.
Is there anything I can do to that area to still keep my carpet to the yellow borders, or am I destined to lose that space and tack strip to the green line instead?
For what it's worth, the hot water tank was just replaced 2 months ago, and was the first time in 5 years that we've used that drain.
Without costing me anymore than it already is, do I have any options?
Actual pic of are in question:
(The baseboard on the far side of the drain shows where I'd like the carpet to end, but also shows the dip from the slope)

I would not carpet over the drain.

I'd probably carpet to the green line, then do linoleum or sticky floor tiles or something similar for the rest of the area.Probably a good idea to use some sort of sealant between the floor and your edge strip as well, so if there is a small water issue, it won't get wicked under the carpet.

So.. lets talk about driveways. Given the harsh prairie winters of Saskatchewan I think I will wait until next summer, possibly the summer after, to pave my driveway/walk way. I want to give the ground proper time to settle, or is this an old wives tale?
Just curious what others have done in the mean time to fill in the gap? Right now there is some sand and rock on it, my builder tried but it isn't good enough. Crushed rock is a bit expensive and my understanding is it will have to come out for the driveway anyway. I was thinking some type of gravel mixture with some concrete slabs right in front of the steps to help keep things organized.

Hey all,
I am re-tiling our entrance and a small bathroom of our condo, perhaps 100 square feet. Existing tile is on a 3" concrete slab poured between floors (we're on the top) - no membrane or anything, just thinset right on the concrete.
I chipped the tile off, and now struggling with removing the thinset. Can't really handle a commercial machine in the space so google suggests hammer drill with a 4" chisel bit, or angle grinder with a diamond cup wheel. Any pro tips out there to make this job easier?

Air compressor and air hammer with chisel bit ?
Keep the compressor outside of work area.

Try crushed concrete, Cardel was using it for bases on driveways and garages. Some local preppers as well. Say it packs better than road crush.

I use an angle grinder and this wheel/stone

Make sure to poly the area off and wear a mask, it's dustier than a fotzes Mom joke.
You could also do a self leveling concrete
