If the Flames do trade down, I hope they target the Red Wings picks (#23 from Washington in the Mantha trade and #38). Might be able to pick up two of Coronato / Pastujov / Stankoven / Raty in that range of picks.

The Red Wings also have #48 from the Rangers (Marc Staal trade) if the #38 pick is too rich.

I know nothing about these players so I won't vote. But Cole Sillinger has the best name, and I bet he does the opposite of his dad and plays 1000 games for the team that drafts him.

I know nothing of these players other than what I've read here on CP. What I've read about Lysell is limited to this thread.
All I'm hearing is he is fast and we need speed. Anything more about Lysell? Remember Rico Fata was fast too.

With those guys still available:
McTavish
Sillinger
Lucius
Lysell
Either goalie
Coronato
Raty
But I have really no idea.

I think Sillinger has a chance to be the best forward from this draft. Mactavish second. The others all have notable flaws that are, imo, harder to project. Lysell is an interesting one but offensive upside remains questionable at NHL level.

But don't trade down? If anything this poll and grouping shows that is likely the play if there's a team two to four spots back that would offer up a second.
I'd be fine with Lucius and a second for example.
|
Since centres are such an important piece of the puzzle is it worth it to give up a pick and move up a couple of spots to secure Sillinger or even go after Johnson?

I am starting to zone in on Sillinger. He is the guy I want.

Apparently the flames took extra looks at Xavier Bourgault, his stats look good but I never heard of him.
Edit: just saw Mckenzie has him ranked 17th. hmmm!

Have the 3 years of ELC line up with the last 3 years of Markstrom's contract. One year as backup, one year as 1A/1B, and last year having Markstrom be his backup.
|
If there was some decent odds he would turn into a franchise goalie, sure.
But any goalie drafted is pretty much a crap shoot.

I hope the Flame Flames are taking lots of looks at all the potential 1st and 2nd rounders. If there's one thing the Flames scouting staff are good at is nailing their list.

His career blossomed on the island. Wasn't it 12 or 13 teams he played for?

I'd take that!
NHL's draft preview has him 11th
"11. (22) Xavier Bourgault (6-0, 172), C, Shawinigan (QMJHL) -- Bourgault is a dynamic offensive player who is relentless in his puck pursuit. The 18-year-old is third on Shawinigan with 40 points (20 goals, 20 assists) and is second with seven power-play goals in 29 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this season."

He ticks a lot of boxes including being a R-shot

This has been hinted at here before, but in the game of hockey there are goalies, defencemen, and forwards.
This list only has forwards for some unexplained reason.
This draft is goalie and defenceman heavy.
We ideally want to take one of the top 4-5 D (whoever drops), or Wallstedt.

Sandman, if it isn’t too much trouble, would you post an alphabetized last of players you have written-up and the corresponding page numbers. I’d like to follow along on draft day.
