Big misses on Biotti and Erixon but that's about it.
Matt Pelech was also drafted as a defenseman and was a pretty big whiff in the first round.

Those results are so old it's barely relevant anymore. The Flames hadn't taken a lot of D in recent drafts but still in the last 6 years they've drafted Andersson, Fox, Valimaki, Kylington. Fox was an absolute stud pick in the 3rd round, it's just too bad he only wanted to play for New York.

This year is so tough to predict but I think if a right shot forward with good speed and motor falls to 12, Flames pick him up. So Lysell.

Lysell for me; He’s Swedish and dynamically offensive RW RH shot who is apparently a super loyal team player to which ever team he is a part of. Sign me up!

When I was looking back for some reason I recalled Kent Manderville as a D but it says he was a C. I must be getting old.

Just based on what I read, I am torn between Sillinger and McTavish. I went with Sillinger just because I took the time to watch his videos more.

I really don't have a strong opinion on any of the players on that list though.

I think they pick Svechkov or L’Heureux. McT and Sillinger will be gone by the time we pick.

Svechkov wasn't on the list so I picked Sillinger.

I went with Sillinger. Lucius and McTavish would be my others. Kind of hard to explain but Lysell doesn't do it for me. I love the description of the player, but his highlights aren't as exciting and enticing as I was hoping for.

Sillinger has the shot and he's put up numbers everywhere he's played. There do seem to be some good picks available, so if the Flames do end up making the pick there will be a high quality prospect added.

I picked Lucius but only because I doubt Mctavish will last to 12, either way the team needs a talented pure goal scorer. I also wouldn't be mad if they got Sillinger either.

This was me. I take highlight packages with a grain of salt anyway, but I sure was underwhelmed by his. I wanted to see just straightaway beating guys to the outside, not stickhandling though hapless defenders (which every CHL package has because, let’s face it, there are lots of bad defenders in the minors). All the plays were nice, just not mind blowing.

If I was to wager, my target faller would be Simon Edvinsson. Who would be tremendous value. Again - I think this is only a small probability though.

So after the top group of Edvinsson, Hughes, Clarke and Power you are into the next wave that probably is just one of Carson Cuelmans or Caarson Lambros.

Then you have the wild card of the goalie who's in that range.
Every year there's something right ... always interesting.

The more recent hype seems to be around Cuelmans moving up. If that happens and you get the big four all gone, that's 5 of the 11 picks before the team going to defensemen.

That's why I went with forwards for this one off poll; you'll get this group likely, but as you say maybe even a Guenther or Johnson with one more surprise.

Do you mean don't trade it out right? I'd agree with that to some degree.

But don't trade down? If anything this poll and grouping shows that is likely the play if there's a team two to four spots back that would offer up a second.

I'd be fine with Lucius and a second for example.

I voted Lysell but now feel like changing to Sillinger. Sandman has me convinced.
