If true, that will be an interesting life experience for sure. They play in a 51,000 seat stadium!

2 points on the Borges transfer.
1. Bye Felicia
2. That's a tidy transfer fee for a CPL club. Sets the bar for players such as Carducci.

If I take off my Cavalry-coloured glasses, I like the Borges transfer. As well as Waterman, Malonga, and even future departures, even though those ones create some challenges for Cavalry.
It shows that the league is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing: becoming a cog in the global soccer machine. This helps the path for homegrown players to advance their careers abroad, and also gives foreign players a reason to give the league a shot.
And let's be honest - this is how the clubs and league is going to become, and remain, financial viable. Scout, recruit, showcase, sell. The league and clubs have done a good job at signing these guys to contracts so they can't get scooped for free. Ticket sales, streaming/TV money, sponsorships, etc. all play a part, but selling players is going to be vital. This is just year one.

I'm not sure I do. Just putting it out there.
However, it's extremely likely that Malonga won't be a Cav next season, right?

I still can't believe Calgary is now part of the global soccer machine, as Jimmy put it... player development, national and international transfers, a now internationally recognized team in a now internationally recognized league.... exciting stuff!

I love the Borges transfer. It's great for the league as you point out. It's great for the Cavs and I hated that guy, so it's great that he's leaving!

Agreed. I love that he's moved on, even moved up. He was a pest to Cavalry too. I will look back fondly on how he became public enemy number one, boos raining down, the red cards being held up during the final.
I still think he kicked out and deserved his red even though he didn't connect, and if he played for any other club it probably would've been upheld, but having an enemy is also good for the culture of the club.
Good riddance, schmuck.*
* But thanks for helping the league a bit and maybe you'll score for the national team one day, but probably not.

I'm assuming he won't be back. And I think a lot of supporters are excited to see Cordova replace him. For all the goals he scored (which is what he was brought in to do), he just never looked like he wanted to be here.

Does the Belgian second division rescind red cards? Asking for a friend...

Also, Adekugbe is training with Valerenga in Norway. His brother Sam has been the starting LB for 2 years now on that squad.
Would be another nice transfer for Cavalry if that happens. I've always rated the Norwegian top flight as fairly close in standards to MLS.

Waterman, and potentially Adekugbe, and Malonga getting 'promotions' is a good look for the Cavs. If they can keep it up, I could see lots of players on the bubble coming for a season.
