Who do you want to be Captain?
Sorry, I searched and didn't see a dedicated thread.
Maybe the mods could make a poll
My heart really wants it to be Backlund but I think there are several things going against that choice.
I've heard Andersson, I know Flamesnation had a column about Weeger recently, who is your pick?

Would be Backlund but seems like he's intent to leave.
So I would go with Andersson or Weegar. Not opposed to Huberdeau.

I've been leaning towards Weegar recently. But also Huberdeau.
I don't know. Who the eff knows, it's so quiet around the Flames it doesn't even feel like it matters.

Weegar or Andersson.
Huberdeau is perfect for the A. I don't think he needs more expectations or pressures put on his shoulders.

Not sure. It almost feels like it might help him if he was "the guy". He apparently relishes mentoring younger players, organizing team events, etc.

Ras.
Just because of contracts, ages, recent team success. The only 3 guys I have confidence will still be here in 3 years are Huberdeau, Andersson, and Weeger.
The rest are on a bubble where they could be released or moved in that time frame depending on how things go.

Kadri. I think he's going to benefit the most from getting the C. I think that would motivate him to drag the team into games the way Tkachuk did. That said, Some of his play after the all-star break really has me questioning his ability to lead.
I don't see any other player on the team whose game would take off to another level after being named captain. A case could be made for Huberdeau, he's good with the media, good with the young players, and could be the MVP of this team offensively. However that would put even more pressure on him to produce, pressure he hasn't handled well so far.

Huberdeau. He is the guy you made the face of your franchise, he is big on community and a known leader on and off the ice.

Celebrated Square Root Day

Definetely Huberdeau for me. He came here relishing the idea of leading a team, with a glow to him last off season. Sutter stomped that out in short order electing to not have a leader so he could control the room dynamic at all times.
- Wants to be the leader
- Natural organizer of team events off ice
- Has already taken on the role of mentoring and supporting young players when they get called up
- Was made to change his game completely, which destroyed his offensive output and instead of pouting dove in feet first and showed amazing defensive metrics his career had never seen (which our fan base largely ignored because they were mad at him)
- Here for a long time
He is the perfect choice for captain and I suspect internally they have already decided on him with an announcement coming in training camp.

I think it will be Huberdeau. Having been given an A by Sutter in his first year here speaks volumes.
If Tanev was a few years younger and committed here for longer, he'd be up there too.
Only reason they wouldn't is to not put extra pressure on him in this second year, but I think he'd be fine. Don't really see anyone else there, I think Andersson upon further reflection wouldn't be a good choice.

The players should have to bareknuckle fight over it. Last man standing wins the C.
